While this movie doesn't hold up to the end, there are many things I did find appealing. My sense is that if you're locked in after ten minutes watching, you'll likely enjoy it to the end. Flip side, if you're not taken in by then, it's probably not for you.
There's some good acting and some good writing here. Also, the cinematography together with the atmosphere it creates is compelling overall -- at least up until the last ten minutes of the movie or so. I consider documentary film making to be an art in itself. Making a movie that purports to be a documentary film (whether bona fide or parody) is by an order of magnitude more difficult still. This movie almost makes the grade -- almost. I think what's lacking is not so much technique as the absence of high concept that you find in so many indie films. I'm surprised they didn't go more daring on that, because there is talent here.
The film breaks down fairly neatly into two parts, the first part consisting of a series of interviews, the second being something along the lines of a reality t.v. show (with some elements of found footage into the mix). Constructing a narrative based on interviews has many challenges. For many reasons, it seems to lend itself to self-parody. Overall, it's pretty well done. The movie would have benefited from a stronger editorial presence during the interviews in the first half (it's like, who's asking the questions and why?). Following the transition to the "reality t.v." half, they'd have done well to focus on the inevitable hijinx that emerges when you get a group of young "wanna be" YouTube stars (they start to go there). On that note, the transition to the second style is a bit abrupt, but generally works. Then, at some point along the way things lose focus. Looking back over the decades, I remember thinking the Blair Witch Project was terribly overrated. However, the writer and director of BWP were able to sustain continuity of narrative amid the bloodletting lol through the use of certain motifs and through the invocations of certain tropes. I dunno, but the last third of this movie seems to lose grounding and lapses into every other movie of a similar ilk.
But, still, I kind of liked it.
Side note: I can't say for sure, but this movie seems to have some basis in the activities of an actual organization in Massachusetts, specifically one that has done research in an area near the town of Rehoboth in S.E. Massachusetts. They've been featured on the local news a number of times. At any rate, I've always found the development and dissemination of local lore quite fascinating. In these parts, it nearly always traces back to some spurious account of an early interaction of European settlers with the indigenous peoples of the region -- more than a template, it's virtually like coloring by numbers. You see this introduced early into this movie, and I wish they'd exploited it more as a basis for interrogating supernatural phenomenon (as opposed to highlighting the knee-jerk skepticism of the token cast cynic).

The whole setup is decent. The actors sell it well and it comes off like a documentary. The setting of the tunnels is a creepy/confusing labyrinth of darkness... which doesn't really match the backstory but that's okay, it's a scary place.
The well itself is prosaic and plain, vs. having it all gruesome looking... also a good thing, IMO.
The only real weakness, which undercuts the whole affair, unfortunately, is the last bit... the part where things happen.
The part that explains stuff... kindasorta. It fails because it's not surprising or scary or anything... it's just what I was expecting and what some of the characters in the film were expecting.
Having a death metal band show up to do run-of-the-mill Satanic stuff was irritating. But that's kinda what happens in a lot of these movies... interesting setup, but no real idea on how to finish it.
This gets some comparisons with The Blair Witch Project, but that movie was a lot more creative and its ending fit its mythology in a way that made it about the creepiest outcome it could have had. This movie has several paths offered by its exposition, and they picked the lamest one.
Still, it's worth watching for the larger part... just turn it off when the woman shows up and make up your own ending in your head, it would have to be better than the one they filmed.

If you're looking for top shelf movies, the type that you see at a cineplex, this isn't that movie. On the other hand, if you like movies in general and the paranormal is your thing, this one is far above the majority out there. For starters, the film quality is better and (rarest of all rarities) the script is fairly strong. The acting is far better than average, and the characters are developed (at least to a point). It has its flaws. But overall, this was a nice little underground gem that held my interest and left me nodding in approval, as opposed to cringing every few minutes. For the indie underground movie circuit, that's saying something.

This movie has a great found footage setup. Hearkening back to The Blair Witch Project, the film is laid out almost like a documentary, detailing an unsolved police investigation. The angle is that the main characters are paranormal researchers, and when one disappears, her husband gets another paranormal research team to spend the night at a haunted factory wherein lies a well that is rumored to be a portal to Hell - The Devil's Well.
The overall mood of this film is excellent, and the ominous underscore and dark ambient music enhance the aesthetic. Ultimately, I did not like the reveal. I am a ghost hunting, found footage junkie, and will watch anything involving either of the two subjects, but the ending just did not do anything for me. Definitely worth a watch, but the ambiguous nature of the ending left me wanting a little more on which to chew. Otherwise, it's solid flick. It looks sharp, sounds clean, the mood is creepy, and the acting is pretty solid for the most part.

So, it wasn't horrible.
The acting isn't going to win any oscars, but at least the dialogue is relatively smooth, and competently delivered. As a matter of fact, everything up till the last thirty minutes had the makings of a good found footage horror movie.
There's a giant, mac sized truck plot hole regarding the wife, the ending is completely unsatisfying, and honestly makes little to no sense. Its not that it's artsy, or was purposely vague to let you make your own mind up, its just.... confusing, nothing is tied off at the end, and you're left just wondering...
What was the point of this entire thing?
So if that interests you. Have at it.
