I just can't get over her reluctance to walk away from that job. Too many bad things happening and you're still there? Improbable "bad guy" made it hard for me to buy into the plot. Suspenseful but not very believable.

I won this book in a Goodreads E-book Giveaway and I am thankful that I was introduced to this author, Mark Edwards. This was my first read by him and I will certainly continue to read his novels. The Devil's Work is a dark and devious read with twists and turns galore. I thought I had some of it figured out but boy was I wrong. The double narratives were not hard to follow and made the novel speed along. It was definitely a page-turner. It is a tense and tightly written psychological thriller that I think everyone would enjoy. A 5 star from me.

This was a very dark novel. The characters while being well drawn were more unlikeable than interesting. This was a very dark book. The characters, while being well drawn were more unlivable than interesting. When I finished the book I felt kind of empty.

I enjoyed the madness of the characters. And they were all mad in their unique ways. It also showcased just how much power words have. Someone can completely destroy another with simply the evidence of words. Would have liked to delve deeper into Bird's madness but that could be a volume in itself.

This kept me going. I kept wondering when someone was going to actually be tortured. I think it was about half way through, that I determined that the conclusions that the main character had were false, but it was interesting to see things unfold. This was exciting and and faster paced at the end.

I rated this book 5 stars because it kept me wanting to find out what's going to happen next. There's a back story that helps pull everything together [sort of] but you will continue to be surprised by each turn of events right through to the end. It's an intriguing, fast paced, great story that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Wow, that ending was not what I expected at all! What started as a childhood dream job with a publishing company turns out to be a psychological nightmare. This nightmare actually begins when Sophie was in college. Sophie has the perfect marriage, the perfect child, and now she has the perfect job - or so she thought. Things began to get weird from the beginning and only got worse. Who Sophie thought was to blame for things going wrong at the office, was not to blame at all. Surprise ending, wow! If you like psychological thrillers, you will definitely like this one. This was the first book I read by Mark Edwards and will not be my last. I won this book in a Goodreads give-away but that no way affects my review.

What a great story! This is the 5th book by this author I've had the good fortune to read and I just had to write how much I've enjoyed it! It is truly a book with suspense and unsuspected twists on every page and I couldn't put it down until I finished it! Mark Edwards has quickly become one of my favorite authors and I'm going to Kindle on Amazon right now to download more of his books!

A decent psychological thriller with an interesting premise of workplace hell. Sophie is sympathetic, if not always as smart as you'd like her to be, This is pretty plot driven, with less emphasis on characters than is usual in this sort of novel. It's a fast read, both because it's well written, and because of the plot itself. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

The plot wove a scenario that was entertaining but slow and somewhat predictable. Too much unnecessary filler that made the reading plodding.
