I have liked the mysterious Devlin since he was introduced and I like him even more now that I know his history. He lost his family, was betrayed as an agent, and no longer knows how to trust anyone. Letting Taylor in takes a lot of effort and time but she doesn’t let him hide. Taylor is a great heroine that loves the finer things in life. Her past has taught her to appreciate the nice things in life and to fight to survive. I really loved both of these characters and I think they make an amazing, and deadly, couple.
“I love you, too. And I’m thinking it’s only going to get stronger with every day that passes.” - Devlin
This book started with a bang and didn’t stop until the end. I loved every minute of it. The aliens are getting smarter and wiser with each book and seeing the squads fight for the future is very emotional. I cannot wait to see how the survivors combat the mind control orbs in the future.
“No matter what happened or what the aliens threw at them, they’d never give up. That was what the fight against the aliens was all about. Hope. Not to regain what they’d lost, but to build something new and better.”
Also the ending of this book with the Christmas party was perfect and beautiful. I love the scene with Marcus and Elle, who are my favorite couple. It was also great to see the other couples.
Heroine kidnapped and abused as a child (referenced only).
I love stories where the character(s) have been captured or are stuck behind enemy lines. There's an immediate level of trust that is required for them to work together and escape. Devlin has experienced a lot of loss and betrayal in his life and he's used to being and working alone so while he trusts Taylor's skills he's not sure he can trust her love. Losing his family at a young age and going deep into the spy world has scarred Devlin on the inside and outside. Taylor also has her own dark past but instead of staying apart it's pushed her to protect others and embrace life.
I loved both Devlin and Taylor as individual characters and as a couple. Anna Hackett seems really good at creating likable characters that I want to keep reading about. I felt like we only got a surface level look at each of these characters but even with that I still loved them. Devlin might be a bit of a loner but he's also really charming and mysterious so he naturally attracts female attention. Taylor is a tough soldier who knows how to kick butt and I loved that she's so independent and strong.
As a bonus we get to see more from my favorite couple, Marcus and Elle, and it was really sweet to touch base with some of the earlier couples in the series.
Devlin's character has been around since near the beginning of the Hell Squad Series, and his book is finally here!! (#11)
When Finn's book (#10) finished, we had a bit of a cliffhanger for Devlin's book, who is paired up with Taylor from Squad 9. With that suspense in mind, I felt this was probably the most highly anticipated book of the Hell Squad Series to date.
I have only good things to say about this book but I can't say anything without giving away spoilers. So i'll keep it simple.
Perfect amount of fast paced action.
Interesting addition to the story arc.
As usual, steamy.
Great supporting cast as usual.
Could not have asked for anything more for Devlin and Taylor.
Just wow! Another fantastic read by Anna Hackett. The Hell Squad Series does not disappoint!! <3

The raptors continue to find new and terrifying ways to capture the surviving humans. We get to witness the coming together of the quite "super spy" Devlin and Taylor, captured behind emeny lines they can't fight the heat building between them. It was great to watch these two fight to save each other while still fighting what they felt. Warriors to the core.
Onto the next book.....
