In true Crossway fashion, this is a beautifully bound book. The color is lovelier than the store page picture. (Hard to get a good idea what it is from a flat photo.) The typesetting is attractive; lots of "white space" for the eye, or for notes if you are given to that. The introductory material is brief but satisfying. Answers the important questions. The devotionals are written specifically for each Psalm. Read in them in order or start wherever you like. There are no calendar days assigned. It's so nicely done. I've always loved the Psalms so I was eager to lay my hands on this one. And I know some people for whom this will be a gift this year. [Written by Deb Finnamore, David's wife.]

I have trouble finding a good devotional; I read the day's text and have forgotten it five minutes later. I enjoy digging and wringing everything out of a passage, and this devotional lends itself well to that. The devotions are short, but good. Also, the layout leaves ample room for expositional notetaking, in case you want to use a commentary in addition to the devotional text, and the pages are thick enough that you don't get bleedthrough when using ink. Overall I am very happy with this. It has changed my devotional habits from a forgettable breeze-through to a worthwhile and practical endeavor.
