Dexter(TM) is a crime drama about Dexter Morgan, a man who leads a double life as an incredibly likeable forensics expert for the Miami Police Department and as an emotionless vigilante serial killer. Taught by his foster father to harness his lust for blood and killing, Dexter lives by his own strict moral code - he only kills murderers who can't otherwise be brought to justice. Dexter is a killer who grapples with fitting into society while, at the same time, he struggles with his inability to feel emotion. The irony of Dexter's life is that he works closely as a blood splatter analyst with the very people who hunt his kind - the homicide departments.

Not going to review the quality of the show as there are plenty of reviews for the more expensive set and the individual seasons. What I will review here is the packaging.
The Blu-Ray case is covered in an ok looking cardboard slipcover. I like the look of the slipcover, but don't love it. What you see in Amazon's photo for this set is a photo of the slipcover, so that is what it looks like. The Blu-Ray Disc case is pretty large. It is a standard type of case that you would get with a set of more than a few discs, only it's much larger. The case is a clear see-through case with no Blu-Ray logo.
Once you open the case, you get stacked trays with the discs. There are 6 individual trays, and they are connected to each other, but the connected trays are not attached to the Blu-Ray case. I can take the trays with the discs out of the Blu-Ray case. On the inside of the case on the sides, there is a list of episode seasons with episode titles and some special features so you know what episodes are on what disc.
Each tray holds four discs, two discs on one side and two discs on the other. The top discs are stacked on top of the bottom dissc, but the top discs are not completely covering the bottom discs. The top discs are placed lower, or higher, than the bottom discs, so you can see half of the bottom discs as well as the buttons holding them in. I suppose it may be possible to remove the bottom discs without removing the top if you are very careful, but would not recommend it.
The quality of the trays seems to be very good. The connectors connecting the trays looks to be very good as well. I don't think it would be very easy to break the connections, which is nice. Though, continually opening and closing of the trays might eventually cause the plastic to tear and the tray might break off. I don't see that happening for a very long time, though as long as I am careful.
A couple of discs were loose when first opened but they were discs behind top discs. There were no scratches so no harm done.
All in all, $78 is not too shabby at all for this set. I've heard horror stories of repackaged cheaper complete series sets having terrible, cheap packaging causing problems with the discs such as difficulty removing discs. This set doesn't seem to be one of them. This packaging is nothing spectacular or amazing like some expensive sets have but it gets the job done, which is hold and protect the Blu-Ray discs. At $78 I bought this, I am extremely happy to own one of my favorite TV shows.
i received this boxset but had to return. Disc 1 episode 4 wont play. It just freezes my player.
Won’t even allow me to eject it.
the packaging is cheap And it’s very difficult to remove the discs from the plastic centrepiece in the middle of the package.
I returned it.
Not reviewing the show, but the actual product itself
I did not get around to watching the bonus features yet, but it seems like it has its fair share of individual episode bonus features, and more weight scale show bonus features
- Nice crisp a design on the exterior of the box
-The plastic box containing the disks is nice and thick, and it's nice to see a box set that has the disks on plastic trays
- The bluray quality is pretty great, and the colors look fantastic
- Great shelf looker!
- The disks are really really hard to get out! Not mad men grade hard to get out, but still a little tricky. It's a push to open kind of thing, but it's really more of a grab one prong, pivot the disk, and repeat.
- Very very minor nitpick, but even though it is Blu-ray, it stands the same height as a DVD case, which isn't a dealbreaker, but I might drive some people insane, as for myself, it's only mildly strange :-)
I love DEXTER as being almost as good as Breaking Bad and the Wire. I just
had to have it. I have it now from Amazon for fifty bucks. Great price, and
