The game has less modes than previous titles BUT there is one mode that makes up for this called "your stage" which keeps things feeling intense and "new" due to learning tracks as you go in contrast to memorizing tracks by doing them over and over this mode will kept me totally focused and attentive more so than most driving game modes.
Track Generator is also new and has brought more replay value to a game that already has a high amount to begin with, no 2 tracks ever the same which means you can also set great times and then introduce them to others for some good old fashioned leaderboard cat and mouse.
in terms of difficulty they have struck a fine balance in respect to pleasing the more casual racer while also having a full suite of tools and mode for the more novice or "pro". I have seen many say this game has been dumbed down to arcade driver BUT Dirt was never a hardcore sim and again i feel no compromises have been made when it comes to difficulty.
Large amount of cars! yes we can more than likely expect dlc cars (whats new) but Dirt 4 feels full featured out the gate, does not feel gimped i any way.

Yes this is more Rally oriented than other dirt games, Dirt Rally was a step sideways just like showdown was, 3 driver disciplines one of the major differences between this and Rally,what if you already own Rally? i feel this game stands on its own, moves the franchise forward and provides enough variety and content to please most racing fans including a Hearty career mode.
I played this on a PS4 and the performance feels pretty solid, codemasters optimize their games very well so no surprise there.
runs at 60 fps which should be the standard
i highly recommend to the casual racer or white knuckle leaderboard hunter sim fan as i feel there is something here for everyone
