I agree with the author, this Diabetic Recipe Cookbook should be on everyone's bookshelf. Most of us need to cut back on the sugar and watch the carbs. Additionally, the author shares her own experiences and results from her recipes. The hints, the encouragement, the friendly, casual read, and the well thought out content are outstanding.

So why only four stars? It's not easy to navigate these wonderful recipes. There are over 20 for breakfast alone. The Table of Contents gives only general headings, such as, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Desserts, Smoothies and there are no text changes within the groups (such larger or bolder text) that would easily guide your eye. This makes finding the individual recipes challenging.

Would I still buy the book? Absolutely! But perhaps the author might consider adding each recipe to the Table of Contents and make the individual recipe headings stand out from the general text.

I was looking for recipies; something special for my diabetic friend, and the search led me to find far more than I bargained for. Dedicated to grandmothers and mothers, wow that's an eye catching detail. How the scents of grandma's cooking are still an inspiration to me to do some old fashioned cooking. Apple pies, cinnamon, butter, oh so many wonderful things were found in my grandmothers' kitchen. She was always ready to share with friends and guests, which reminds me, this book is "A Must In Every Cooks Kitchen" to care for much loved family members and all who enter in. Guests (diabetic ones) will know their needs are taken care of too, and made to feel they are a special part of an enjoyable experience, eating and sharing the recipes created for them, from breakfast to bed time and all the meals in between.

I haven't tried any of the recipes yet, but the formatting of this book is not the greatest. Some of the recipes give prep time, cooking time, etc., others don't. Some recipes give the # of servings, others don't. Some of the recipes give nutrition information, others don't. The recipes aren't separated from each other very well and sometimes seem to run together. Like I said, I haven't tried the recipes yet, so they may be delicious. I just think it could be formatted better is all.

I am not diabetic but I still got a copy of this book simply because we all need to cut back on our carbohydrates and sugar intake. I know that cookbooks like these contain very healthy recipes that will help me avoid having diabetes and have a normal blood sugar. I always thought that foods for diabetes are bland but judging from the recipes found in this cookbook, it seems so delicious that I can't wait to try cooking these meals.
