Although I'm not diabetic I have some water retention problems. After a long flight back to the U.S. from South America a few weeks ago I could see that my feet were very swollen and the elastic in the normal socks I used had left a very deep and uncomfortable impression in my legs. I decided to try diabetic socks to see if they were more comfortable. I'm happy to say that these are very comfortable. I was concerned they might slide down easily if they didn't have much elastic, but they stay up just fine. They do have elastic in the tops, but they cling to your legs gently and don't cut into you anywhere as much as standard socks. These socks also seem to be sturdy and durable. All in all a good buy, and really no more expensive than standard socks!

I have purchased both these Factory Direct Brand diabetic socks and the Physician Choice Brand. Both stretch in the tops. But, these Factory Direct Socks are a bit roomier in the foot area, if that is you what you are looking for, and they don't shrink. Physician Choice is not tight, but, has a snug support in the foot area which some people like, instead of being roomy.

For those with Diabetes and those with Edema or swollen feet... DO NOT purchase these socks. Turned inside out... and the toe seam is high and long with points at the seam's edge. This toe seam will cut into the skin of the tender foot across the toes and at the seam points the end of the seam will bunch up causing pressure areas at the side of the foot, that over time MAY evolve into sores. The looping on the inside of the socks have NUMEROUS snags causing the looping to be "bunched-up" and long. This will also cause lumps on the inside of the sock that will cause pressure and irritation to the foot. Not a good sock to wear for a diabetic or person with edema to their feet. I gave my socks away and I will look for better QUALITY sock to order from Amazon. Seller was very prompt in shipment and order came before scheduled time (5 stars there). Amazon's prices are the best (another 5 stars), but manufacturer does not make a good "DIABETIC" or "EDEMA TYPE SOCK(1 star)."

I bought 12 pairs of these ladies size 9-11 and also some 10-13 size. I have washed them and put in dryer countless times and they still hold their shape and a gentle kind of stretch. The price is incredible compared to what I have paid in the stores - and I can't find them in stores for other brands. I saw these socks once in a shoe store for $10 for only 3 pair! The socks run true to size, definitely. If you go to the department stores and buy the typical ladies sock size 9-11, then these socks will surely fit you. Those regular socks run so small, but, these are stretchy in the tops and a bit roomier in the foot. If you are recovering from a broken leg and it is really swollen(I have done that) or if you are pregnant and have lots of edema I would say buy a bigger size. If you have a huge lot of swelling, really really bad, then get the 13-15 "lower cut Quarter socks" - they are really big.
My conclusion: If you want a loose fitting sock for neuropathy, your shoe size is ladies 5-9 and your foot is normal to mild edema, then this 9-11 size is good. If you have a lot of swelling in the foot, get the next size up. Sometimes I wear the 9-11 and when I broke my leg I wore the 10-13.

I am not diabetic, but because of a broken hip I prefer to wear loose fitting sock. I use to find "relaxed top " socks from a major manu. but have not been able to in a year or so. These socks fit loosely all over, I have noticed no decrease in the warmth provided by them. I am completely satisfied with my purchase, it is too soon how they will hold up over time.

Diabetic CREW Socks MEN XL, sock size 13-15, 1 dozen Pairs, white

Have been using these socks for about a month now.
I'm not diabetic but I have large feet and calves.
It's great to finally have non-binding socks.
They have a lot of stretch in the top and don't leave "cut-in" marks on my legs.
The foot part is soft and leaves lots of wiggle room for my toes.

My wife wears them for sitting in the recliner because they also leave
wiggle room and go high up her legs, keeping her feet and legs warm.

I'd recommend these socks to anyone who suffers from too-tight socks.
You don't have to be a diabetic to get comfort from them.

Pretty good.

I am not diabetic. I am 6' with muscular calves. Even the "extra large" size in every sock I've tried left deep marks in my calf. After years of wearing crew-length socks with work boots, I've started to develop permanent indentations. I've tried Fruit of the Loom, Hanes, Carhartt, J.B. Icelandic, Gold Toe, Darn Tough and Wigwam - all in extra large. Only the super-expensive Wigwams didn't leave marks and they developed holes within 3 uses.

These stay up and leave no marks. The padding around the top is thin, but the foot padding is sufficient, though I wouldn't call it ample. They are quite comfortable and sufficiently warm for average-to-chilly (but not super-cold) weather. They left a lot of lint even after an initial wash and two trips through the dryer - but after 3 washes and 5 trips through the dryer they're average with the lint. I haven't had them long enough to speak about durability, but at the price I can't complain if they wear out after a couple months.
