Diagrid Structures is the result of several years of research and site visits to key diagrid buildings around the world such as Capital Gate (Abu Dhabi), Guangzhou International Finance Center (China) and most recently The Leadenhall Building (London). The book covers the development of the diagrid from the initial work of Shukhov to its remarkable re-emergence in the work of Foster+Partners with Swiss Re and the Hearst Magazine Tower. Although the diagrid projects constructed to date are all curiously different and unique, I have worked to establish a methodology that others may use to design with diagrids. Additional buildings included: Aldar HQ (Abu Dhabi), Al Bahar Towers (Abu Dhabi), Doha Tower (Qatar), Canton Tower (Guangzhou), Royal Ontario Museum (Toronto), London City Hall (London), One Shelley Street (Sydney), Manukau Institute of Technology (Auckland), CCTV (Beijing).
About the Author
Terri Meyer Boake is a Full Professor at the University of Waterloo School of Architecture in Canada. She is Past President of the Society of Building Science Educators and Past President of the Building Technology Educators' Society. She works with the Steel Structures Education Foundation and the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction and has previously published Understanding Steel Design: An Architectural Design Manual. She has lectured and published widely on steel design and construction.
