Amazing improvement to the Uniden Bearcat SBS100. I know many others are talking about range.Living in suburban Washington, DC, range is not an issue for me (everyone is bang on top of one another).That said, the improvement was one of CLARITY.I am the son of a career Marine, and served in the Corps myself, so my hearing is absolute crap after an entire life in and around loud noises.This antennae VASTLY improves the sound quality to a point I do not even need my hearing aids.All above said, should you have the SBS100, you will need purchase the little $4 adapter to make it fit (illustrated in photo).I wish I could tell you what the adapter is called, though I simply pulled it out of my tool box and have absolutely no recollection of where, or when, I purchased it.I simply read other reviews stating the same re: the SBS100 and the adapter is four bucks.

Got this for my BC125AT and it definitely moderately improved the quality of receptions. Unfortunately it did not actually increase my range very much - increased by only 5 to 10 miles at most. I am indeed battling fairly undesirable positioning - at the bottom of a hillside along a river surrounded by hilly terrain. This is why I gave it 4 stars anyway. All things considered I am fairly impressed with the improvement over the piece that comes with the 125.

I don't know whether there is an issue with all of these or my antenna has some defect but the tolerances on the female BNC connector at the bottom of the antenna are so tight I can barely get it on and off of my SDS100 without using so much force I'm afraid I'm going to break the antenna mount on the scanner. Every other antenna I use just twists right on and off with ease.

Antenna gets great reception but if you are not going to put it on and leave it and are a person that uses multiple antennas throughout the week like I do this may not be for you.

Antenna works well, especially a good upgrade for 70cm band compared to my other (shorter) rubber duckie antennas.
I tried one of the cheaper Chinese copies of this antenna too, but I think this had a small edge over it in reception even though they are meant to be both the same wave lengths electicly
