I bought this bike in the XL frame (I am 6'1" with 34" inseam) to get back into cycling after moving to a great biking area and after selling my aging Trek 4500 26"'er. I really didn't know quite what to expect, not having much experience with any new 'hybrid' bikes and really, not having done any real cycling for many years.

I ordered the bike on a sale about a month ago and assembled it upon arrival. All components were present, the box wasn't too beaten up, and assembly went generally smoothly. After a test ride, I did have to tweak both derailleurs to get 'em lined up properly, but the simplicity of the Shimano Altus suite made it pretty easy - plus, there's a plethora of Youtube videos to help. After doing some adjustments (and my brake cables are still stretching out a little), I have been riding this bike daily for about 10-12 miles as a fitness run, and on weekends for longer rides (20+).

My thoughts:
1. This bike is surprisingly nimble, especially as compared to a traditional MTB like my old Trek. Accelerates quickly, shifts flawlessly (derailleurs do require periodic adjustment as the cables break in, but I haven't had to do that yet), and rides extremely smoothly with the 40C tires and the dble-walled rims. In addition, when I traverse light gravel and dirt, the tires have enough shoulder to grab adequately without that drag you get with traditional MTB tires on pavement. In short, I think DB scored well with the tires and rims. As an added benefit, the stock rims are rated down to 28C tires, which means I can swap out my 40's for much skinnier road tires and make this bike even more nimble on the road with minimal additional cost (if the urge hits me). The stock Presta valves are a nice touch as well.

Let's face it, buying a bike online is tricky at best. While the reviews for the bike were solid, I was mostly concerned about fit. I did what research I could. I went to a bike shop and tried similar sizes. In fact, I was about to buy one from a local shop, but I could not find a deal comparable to these Diamondback bikes on Amazon.

Once the bike arrived, assembly was a snap. I should mention that it's imperative to invest in a metric set of wrenches. Once assembled, I was very happy to find out that the fit was perfect. I did however, take it to a local bike mechanic to make some of the finer adjustments. Honestly though, I would have been fine either way.

I've only had the bike a few months, but performance has been great. It's light and nimble. I love the larger wheel size. It shifts seamlessly and the disc brakes make stopping quiet and efficient.

Most of my riding is for fitness as well as some local commuting.

AWESOME BIKE! This is all around an amazing bike for the price (I picked it up for $325 on internet special haha) - just make sure you are buying a bike that fits your needs. This is not a mountain bike its a hybrid - so you should be on concrete/paved road most of the time but have the flexibility to go off on dirt, grass, and even chewed up concrete (i have a lot of that where i ride) when you want/need to. The pictures don't do this bike justice it's BEAUTIFUL (looks like a much higher end bike than the pic here) - its a dark gunmetal grey and that stripe color is a custom orange/red. I went to Home Depot and used their palette swatch to find the color (its called "Chile") to add more pinstripes in case you want to do the same! After i had this assembled the guy rolled it out and commented on the great deal i picked it up for - and turns out he has the exact same 'mountain' version of this bike (with front end shock) colors and all - and commented on how solid it is and how pleased he has been with his purchase as well. I took it out this weekend and had a blast. It's extremely light, tight and nimble and felt great (you will definitely need a new seat or a pad or bike shorts - the seat is hard as a rock). Took me a couple hours to get through the main gears I'll be using most but was finally comfortable with it no complaints. I got the 18"(medium) size for my 5'11'' body and fits perfect. You should be around 5'8'' to 6' for this bike. Again, making the right choice of bike for your specific needs is the key. Just because you get a nice bike at a good price doesn't mean its a good fit for you - so that's where you really want to do your research. I am very pleased with this product and if i see any issues later i will update. BTW: I bought the bike from Dicks Sporting Goods. Awesome experience and they put the bike together as part of the purchase - no additional charge which is a big plus.

Sports by Sager Inc was the company I bought the bike from.
When I opened it , I found the left shifter piece broken. It must have broken on the way to my house.

BUT! The company has been in communication with me and has offered to pay for the part. Great service and ridiculously nice. I am sure to recommend them to many of my friends.

The bike itself is great.I got the 16 inch because I am 5'5.Fits like a GLOVe. It includes disk breaks that not many bikes have. The color is amazing and the rest of the bike feels like it will endure my daily commute. The bike is light and efficient.

The bike tires are schrader valves. Diomandback sells replacements.

5/5 Thanks Sager!
