Once again, I was lulled into buying a book that is a serial. Amazon needs to clearly state that such books are NOT standalones. Amazon should also state how many books are in the series. I try to avoid ever buying books like this until the entire series is out.

Besides my issues with these types of books, I could not stand the h. I also could not figure out who is really is her love interest. After the surprise ending, and I doubt I will read the next one.

I have never read a book where I absolutely disliked ALL the characters. And the plot. And found nothing worth redeeming. Spoilers. She's a 17 year old spoiled high school slut that is drop dead beautiful with a huge sense of entitlement and has no moral compass, compassion, or kindness in general. He is a 32 year old married lawyer without sense enough to check out her age? And how did she get a passport to get out of the country with him? He didn't look? Der. Ignorance is NOT bliss. It may be prison. Why is Bryna going to all this trouble to get into UNLV? Her dad is an alumni and rich to boot. If she can correctly spell her name on her SAT, she's in. I'm all for fiction, but it's got to make a little sense!
Bryna and Jude. This is "Mean Girls" meets Tiger Woods.
And then there are the secondary characters. Can't we make anybody likable? Gates could almost be likable but he's sticking it in just about everybody and started the whole infidelity thing with Bryna while claiming to loooove her. Pace is just weird. World's best high school quarterback that seems to be aspiring to be head of the Mean Girls? And Bri's friends? So doormat that I can't even remember their names.
There's angst, and there's living hell. At least ONE character has to have something decent about them! For me to like the book, anyway. And, lovely, it was "offered for $.99 for a week, but I bought within that week and got charged $2.99! Not that it's going to break the bank, but it's the bait and switch...
Don't take the bait. Just my opinion.
Sorry Ms. Linde. I'm sure you are a great author, but this did not do it for me.

Diamonds is one of those books that was hard for me to put down. Once I started reading, I just had to know where this story was gonna go. I love books like that. I love when a story like Bryna’s comes along and it’s so messed up, and at times such a train wreck you can’t look away. And I mean that in the best way possible.

Bryna is a 17 year old high school student, but she is mature for her age, both in looks and attitude. She’s adjusting to living with her fathers new wife and her new stepbrother, her boyfriend is a Hollywood star and she is the queen bee at her school. Yet she wants more, craves more. One night while out alone at a club, she meets him. A gorgeous stranger. Sparks fly.

What was supposed to be one night with a handsome stranger turns into more. Bryna carries on a relationship with this older man, Jude. Jude is separated from his wife. He’s very hesitant to share any personal info with Bryna, which is fine with her. She doesn't want him knowing her age or who her father is etc.

So this relationship of sorts stays secret. Secret rendezvous, secrets about lives, jobs, ages, etc. But one thing among all the secrets is real. The feelings Bryna is starting to develop for Jude. She is starting to care about him, want more. What started as just a fling is changing in her head and in her heart. Things are going good for this couple… but what happens when the secrets are found out?

Bryna was one of those characters I was not crazy about at the beginning of the book. But she completely grew on me. By the end, she was actually one of my favorite people in this story. I still have mixed feelings about Jude, but I can’t wait to see what happens with him in the next book.

The connection these two had was primal. It was hot, sexy, forbidden.

What I Loved
I must say, this story kind of snuck up on me. Throughout most of the book I wasn’t quite sure how I felt about the main character Bryna. Her attitude isn’t the best and she kind of annoys me. I saw her as a bully at times, and sometimes was she came off completely delusional. But by the end I was addicted to Bryna and instantly needed more. This took me completely by surprise, and I absolutely loved that. I’ve never had a story take me off guard as much as this one did.

Bryna has grown up in the world of privilege, she’s lived a life that millions can only dream of, and her attitude definitely reflects that of a spoiled teenage girl. She is the byproduct of non-involved parents, with too much time and money on her hands and a false sense of power. Although she annoyed me at times and her immaturity shines through, I was enthralled with her story and invested in her happiness.

The story starts out with Bryna grasping at something real when everything else in her life is shallow and fake. She meets a mysterious stranger which leads to some pretty hot sex and a very secret affair. Even though Bryna got on my nerves at times and had me just shaking my head, there was a part of me that sympathized with her story and made her relatable. I love that the book left me grasping for the next story in this series counting down the days till Gold comes out.

Not So Much
I really enjoyed Diamonds, but I do wish there was a little bit more depth in the character development and foundation in the plot. I did read an ARC so maybe in the final story there will be, but for me I found it a little lacking.
