This greatest hits collection from Dio was released outside the US and Canada in 1992. It contains tracks from all the studio albums from Holy Diver up to Lock Up the Wolves. There's no new track, yet there's HIde in the Rainbow (Ronnie James Dio used that word more than his former band did!) from the 1986 film Iron Eagle and has never appeared on a full-length Dio album before. There have been a handful of other collections in North America and/or worldwide since of this period. Warner/Reprise may not have released this themselves not because of grunge (although Dio was affected by that as confirmed in the recent documentary), but rather the release of the brief reunion of Black Sabbath (along with Vinny Appice) with the comeback Dehumanizer, which they released in the US and Canada, so Dio would not compete with himself on the same label, I suppose. The Very Beast of Dio with different tracks would not be released in these countries until 2000, just after Magica (this kind of thing has been done with other artists over the years; you know how it is).
I saw this in Dios hometown when he was still alive, but didn't think to get it then, but good thing I got it here so not to let the side down. Maybe to make up for not buying it sooner.
