MURDER ON THE. VILLAGE GREEN by Penelope Sotheby "Diane Dimbleby" series book 1.
Diane's motto is "the truth will set you free", retired teacher, and still does yoga. Apple Mews, has a dead stranger, as though he was just sleeping.the autopsy showed more. Once again the Inspector, meets Diane and why she is at the scene, looking for evidence. What is the connection when a woman pretending to be an officer kidnaps Diane. A note with a demand, or she will be the next victim. I like Penelope writing, and a first to read this series. I thought the plot was good, and the characters and the scene of the little village was well define. Giving the reader, more of a feel of what was taking place, in this little village where one didn't lock doors. Looking forward to more in this series.
MURDER IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD book 2
Cary, something happened, now I have her dog Rufus. The questions of why, she was always helping people out. Was there distant family that Diane didn't know about. A real puzzle of what happened. Readers will enjoy and love reading about Diane and the Inspector.
MURDER ON THE YACTH book 3
A simple request for Diane to "come visit" Mike, in Lundy Island. The simplicity is unusual and sounds like more. Mike's career had been , M16 , knowing your life is never your own. Writing this manuscript , he's getting threats to stop. A prank or if real why. Diane calls and ask the Inspector to come, for a few days, to look at the threats. Instead, he is looking at something more serious, was there something in the manuscript. Another charming, easy to read, and more about the characters we enjoy, and what they are doing. Readers will definitely enjoy these 3 stories. Looking forward to reading more about Diane and the Inspector.
Miss Marple or Jessica Fletcher she's not she just fits the new millennium murder/ mystery / mayhem.
Village life is quaint, but not so quirky that it's annoying. It could be small town anywhere I a lot of ways, but this village is small town Apple Mews. The quirks of the township work.
Diane is a senior who shops at the village store run by her former student, in fact much of the village is populated by her former students.
Somehow, she is fascinating and strong, not an oddball. The police are Ocassionally annoying with their policies and procedures, but devoted to the people and the law.
This is a triple treat mystery collection. Take a bite of one story at a time, or gobble the whole!
Each of the stories in this 3 book collection are stand-alone novels, in that you don't have to read them in any particular order to understand who's who, what's going on, etc. All three stories have uncommon plots in unique settings. Ms. Sotheby's writing style is descriptive, clever, inviting and entertaining. I enjoyed each of these stories so choosing a favorite would be difficult.
I received a copy and chose to review it.
