Although it starts off with a humorous insight into the life of a compulsive eater, it quickly moves into much deeper territory, exploring the way that our past can affect our actions and even personality. There is no clichéd makeover as the protagonist, Rowan, suddenly becomes beautiful. Instead she slowly evolves, learning to like who she is, eat cleanly and ditch her old hang-ups, losing the weight along the way. And that is, essentially what this story is about; the evolution of humans into people who can control their impulses, are accountable for their actions and entirely happy with their lives.
The setting of the law firm is ideal ... Throw in a couple of gorgeous, rich and intelligent men, a tropical destination and a bucket-load of tension and you've got one gripping book. Paige Singleton is an extremely talented writer, creating amusing and inventive phrases that carry the reader along, making you forget that you're even reading.
