I've worn this style Dickies coveralls for 35 years now, usually by themselves or sometimes over a T-shirt. I do, during deer season, wear them layered over regular pants/shirt when cooler.
For years I wore size 44 Tall in this style, and the fit was loose without being baggy/sloppy (obviously, they are cut large, as the size 44 has plenty of room with my larger 48" chest size) when worn alone. When I went to re-order this time, sizing had changed to a 'std' S/M/L/XL/XXL format. I called Dickies customer service direct and was told that the Size Large-Tall was the same as the old size 44-Tall, so I ordered that size.
They came. They fit just like the old sizing did.
NOTE: These WILL shrink just a bit over about a half dozen washes, then won't shrink anymore. It's not much, but is there - perhaps 1/2" on all measurements. Fits even better then. Also, the Tall is about a 35-36" inseam, but the sleeves are 35-36, so I have to put up with a bit too long legs for the right sleeve after a bit of shrink. They're coveralls, not a tux, so who cares .
Durability of these is very good for a m oderate weight material.
Also note that the loosest area is in the rear. My own is not flat, yet I have a lot of room left in the back pockets to carry stuff.
I am a firefighter and am used to coveralls and heavy Nomex material. These coveralls cotton twill is not soft and smooth like the 'RV Specials' one sees older folks in, but are not uncomfortable. They get softer with each wash.
I usually wear an Extra Large Tall or Extra Large Shirt. Double Extra Large Shirts are like tents on me.
I'm 6'3" and tried on an Extra Large Tall coverall. I Couldn't even get it over my shoulders even though Tall shirts are usually a bit to long for me.
I ordered an Extra Large, Extra Tall coverall. It is barely Tall enough for me and fits snugly even without clothing underneath it. I am afraid it will no longer fit if I wash it with warm water or dry it.
It drives me nuts that these aren't offered in reasonable sizes. The sizing is so far out of the norm that they should offer sizing charts specifically for their coveralls. I wonder how many other people have become so frustrated that they kept coveralls that almost fit.
My only negative here is the sizing. I couldn't find detailed info in the other reviews, so I'll try to be as specific as possible. I'm 5'11", 255 lbs. My chest size is 48", and my waist is 40". I generally wear a 32" inseam in jeans. My suit jacket size is 48 Regular. I have broad shoulders, am muscular in the shoulders and arms, and am thick (not fat, nothing hangs over my belt) through the waist. Lol...this sounds like a weird dating profile...
Anyways, I first ordered a XXL Tall. The sizing on this (off Dickies site) is Chest: 50-52, and Neck 18-18.5. I figuered even though I am a 48" chest, I could use a little extra room for clothes underneath, and I like loose fitting stuff anyways. However, I was SWIMMING in these! The chest and waist in the XXL Tall were huge, even with a sweatshirt underneath. The length of the legs and arms was just a bit long, but not bad. The "crotch to shoulders" length was perfect. I couldn't wear these for working, as they are just too big.
I then ordered the XL Tall. The sizing for this (off Dickies site) is Chest: 46-48, and Neck 17-17.5. These fit me pretty well. The chest is perfect, and I can comfortable wear a couple layers. The waist is a bit more snug, but not tight. The only issue I have is with the length. The arms and legs fit well, but the "crotch to shoulders" length seems short. Getting the coveralls up and over my shoulders, and then back off, takes a bit of work. It would be great with just another inch. The regular XL version would definitely be too short.
Overall, I'm going to stick with the XL Tall. I just REALLY hope they don't shrink at all, or they might be too small.
The annoying thing about the sizing is the "gaps" between sizes. Why is the XL 46-48 and the XXL 50-52? Why isn't there a size in between that fits 48-50?? As it is now, it's too large of a jump in sizes.

I only say that they are "somewhat small" because they are a difficult to get off. I like them; they are comfortable. They definitely server their purpose. Read morePublished 1 day ago by Jeffrey Blackard
