The denim is not as heavy as many work jeans, but this may be an advantage in the Texas summers, haha. But, it does provide less protection from thorns and horns. The front pockets are quite deep which is good for keeping items in the pockets. On the back sides of the lower hem, extra fabric provides a layer to prevent heel rub-through from destroying the jeans early.
I wear these jeans to my ranch where I work livestock, so they get dirty. The loops and extra pockets come in handy for carrying ropes, tools, etc. After washing, they did not shrink too much and quickly stretched back to original size when worn. I will likely buy these jeans again.
PROS-- dark blue, deep pockets, come in my size (20), long enough for a tall person, extra fabric in heel area
CONS- denim could be heavier, low rise fit, cost
I buy carpenter and cargo pants despite not needing them professionally because I prefer pockets to purses. I was able to fit a phone and a phone-sized wallet in the knee pockets. Paperbacks will not fit - if you carry a paperback or e-reader in your pockets, you will likely prefer cargo pants.I am back to buy more after realizing how often I look for these pants first thing in the morning before resigning myself to wearing something else because they are still going through the wash. The fit on these looks good enough for business casual without looking frumpy, and they pair well with a stylish blazer and boots or with sandals with chunky heels. They are plenty versatile and won't look out of place on the beach - and they wash well, so you can wear them out hiking and then wash then and wear them to the office.
I only buy the Dickies brand for my work pants because they are so well constructed and keep their shape and color even after dozens of washes.
