For those of you who work in the trades, or might actually need adult-sized pockets, I suggest buying the mens version of this vest. It looks very similar, and likely has pockets that you can actually put your hands in (no doubt costs less, too!). I sacrificed pocket space because I liked the 'oxblood' color (what the heck is oxblood, you ask? it's what I would call brick; deeper red, not bright red). Back to the pockets: the hand pocket will hold about 3/4 of your hand, maybe more if you ball your fists up. They are not what I'd call generous, nor would I risk putting my iPhone in them (and I own an older iPhone 2 which is smaller than generations 4&5). The chest pockets were a nice idea, if they had worked. The opening is about 2-2.5" wide. Enough to slip a tissue or some cash in, as long as you can fish it out with two fingers. Sadly, the work to sew on those two mostly useless pockets probably added a good deal to the cost. Aside from that, it is a sturdy work vest that appears well made. The collar is made of a softer material so it will feel nice around your neck. The material is not soft and fine- it is more rugged/coarse, as you'd expect in a work vest. I own a Dickies work jacket of similar material and it has softened with time.

This is one heavy-duty vest. The sanded duck fabric is soft to the touch but very substantial, and I foresee it lasting for a long long time. The pile lining is also soft. The vest is just the right weight: heavy enough for outdoor wear, but not too heavy for all-day indoor/outdoor wear. I love the pockets: two handwarmer pockets at just the right placing, two small upper zippered security pockets (which are also practically invisable and keeps the line of the vest simple), and a hidden inner pocket.

I received the vest a week ago, and have had it on practically nonstop ever since. Considering that I got it for around $40.00, which I consider a HUGE bargain for the quality received.....well, in short, I recommend it highly.

One note: I wear a womens 8-10 in tops, and while the size M vest fits me excellently, I do wish the armholes were just a leeeettle bigger. If you are at all between sizes, I might recommend going with your larger size choice.

I purchased the vest for riding my motorcycle this fall. Chose a duck vest because it takes scuffing and snagging well; chose Dickies because it was affordable with good quality seams/hardware. The color is spot on, but if you're a woman, you might consider ordering your size and a size down. I know these are made for women, but the small was so big I couldn't even fill out the extra with layers. Given the thickness of the fabric, it pretty much just stood up on its own and looked ridiculous. The XSmall was perfect. As other reviews have pointed out, it would be nice if the pockets had zippers or something to keep them closed. I will be modifying them to button shut.

Well made and definitely worth the conservative price.

This vest is beautifully made with nice detailing. Definitely made for outdoor wear as it has a fleece lining. The rusty red color is perfect. Unfortunately I ordered a large and it was way too big especially under the arms. I had to return if. It was purchased at a great price as a lightning deal. If I could get that price again, I'd reorder in a medium.

As a female in a male dominated field its pretty hard to find decent 'women's' workwear. This vest is perfect. The fit is not boxy (ie: the shoulders don't stick out, the waist sits wear its supposed to), it's warm, it's durable, it holds all my stuff securely that my worn-thru jeans keep dropping. (Also it makes the boys at the lumber store take me slightly more seriously when i first come in.) The collard flaps do sit up a bit, which i fixed easily by installing some brass snaps, which ended up going well with whole look.
my sole complaint might be the nappy fleece lining. It collects wood dust and shavings like nobody's business. I think maybe a quilted liner or a finer nap/smoother fleece would be better.

This vest was smaller and shorter than I expected it to be. Before ordering, I saw the warnings about the sizes running small. I usually wear an XS or S, so figured I'd be okay with a small. It actually fits me very well, but had it been any smaller, it would have been TOO small. If you like extra room or plan to wear a lot of layers underneath, you should probably order two sizes up to be on the safe side. With that being said, I've worn this vest a few times now and it's very warm and comfortable! It was a good purchase, but just be aware that the sizing does run pretty small.

i liked this, i knew to order small even though i typically wear size M or size 10. the color was nice, a rustic burnt red: picture carhartt type quality...the thick, worn look. it was also warm. i sent it back though because the length of the seam from collar to the top of my shoulder was too long and made my upper body look big and boxy.

Love this vest!! Very warm and comfy with the sherpa lining. Tried to find a long sleeve version but couldnt
so bought a carhart long sleeve sherpa sanded duck jacket. Both are great for cold weather. The sanded
duck material is kind of stiff but keeping warm is more important to me. Wish it had a chest pocket or
inside pocket and a little more length in the back. But all in all a very useful vest for winter weather.
