The story opens up with Abe, the narrator, planning to commit suicide by overdosing on sleeping pills because he cannot get over the death of his wife. His kids don't visit and he has just completely given up. When he is about to go through with the deed, he gets a call from his obnoxious (and hilarious) friend Horace. Horace comes to his house drunk, with his new girlfriend and they end up drawing Abe into their antics.
If you are a fan of Hunt's previous work then you will definitely enjoy We Did Everything Wrong.
CV Hunt gets better and better, continuing to do something unexpected and nailing it. I enjoyed this more than my meager words can convey. Compelling and highly recommended.
WE DID EVERYTHING WRONG is a road trip story for the just-above middle aged. Hunt does a fine job writing from a 65 year old's POV, as we feel Abraham's irritation with the technology and attitudes of the younger generation, and with his displeasure dealing with his friend Horace who is basically an 18 year old who never grew up.
Dark, but always humorous, this is another solid offering from C.V. Hunt's diverse catalog.
