I started using these with my daughter at 3 (because it entails small pieces, do not use if your children put things in their mouths). She started using them at 3 for counting and sorting by colors. she then advanced to patterns. more or less concepts. addition and subtraction and more.
these unifix cubes are versatile and can be used to teach many things. this is a must have for preschool and early childhood classrooms
The cubes are very easy to manipulate. They stick together well but are not hard to seperate. After a year of use the bright colors have not faded and the cubes have not really shown any signs of wear. It does come with a brief booklet. I used a few of the ideas but you will find a great deal more ideas for their use in a curriculum, on the internet, or even just exploring them over time.
Only complaint: wish the packaging was better. When I received it the box was already falling apart. The blocks were in perfect condition, but just a tad disconcerting. :)
Would highly recommend.
I bought this set on the advice of a math teacher who said we need one at home to help us help our kids with the new math styles of learning. If your kids are learning Common Core math at school, you need this set at home. I just wish I had purchased and used this when my 3rd grader was starting out in Common Core math!
