Die Another Day (DAD) is one of Madonna's latter day big hits, and it's an interesting song all around, both for Madonna and a James Bond Movie. They have here the Radio Edit, which cuts off about the last 60 seconds of the full version; it ends rather "coldly" or suddenly, which actually fits it better given what it is. So yes, Die Another Day is a very good song by Madonna. As any Madonna fan knows, she loves releasing expansive remix single albums for her singles, and because she's done it so consistently, and uniquely, it's one of her selling points. In that regard, I believe only the Pet Shop Boys have been as consistent in releasing remixes of their singles, although she does it far more expansively, and makes them more available. In that regard, some of DAD's remixes leave the listener wanting.
-The Dirty Vegas Club Mix sounds like the 10 minute opus version of DAD. While it doesn't use EVERY piece of the original, it is the closest you'll get to an extended version of DAD. Very nice to listen to.
-Thee Retrolectro is an electro remix of DAD, and arguably the most melodic remix. Very nice as well.
-The Thunderpuss remix has no melody whatsoever. By the 30 second mark, you're hearing what you'll hear for nearly 9 more minutes. Nice to dance to, but utterly boring and monotonous to listen to.
-The Deepsky remix attempts a melody, but ends up just being a rhythm track with random electro sounds that have give no aural pleasure. Danceable, but hardly desirable to listen to.
-Brother Brown's Bond-Age Club Mix rates among Thee Retrolectro, as it gives a melody you can listen to.
Comparatively, the DAD remix single yields a very good track, 2 good ones, and 2 boring tracks, which makes it a mild disappointment compared to her other remix singles. Or perhaps it's that I get remixes to enhance my listening pleasure, whereas most people get them to dance, never you mind any melody.
The new single, "Die Another Day", beginning with the series' trademark ominous and menacing intro, launches into a bass-heavy rhythm reminiscent of the singer's hit "Music". The respective remixes of the original track add to Madonna's ever growing and most appreciative, at least by this listener, string of dance favorites.
Madonna has been a consistent chart topper for close to two decades and this latest offering assures that she will be with us for many more to come.
