Die Hard just delivers. It's what a good action movie should be. Real people fighting plausible (however improbable) bad guys and situations. This was from the days when John McClain ran around barefoot with a machine gun (Ho-Ho-Ho), not surfing on the back of jets or taking down the entire Russian army.
It's just a great action movie. And I had completely forgotten the Run DMC Christmas music on the soundtrack!! It just makes the holiday spirit complete.
The print of the movie delivered via the Amazon FireStick in HD is magnificent. It's clean. It's full HD. It's presented in a matted 2.35:1 aspect ration (meaning it's got the black bars at the top and bottom because it's a true wide screen presentation, so nothing is edited to fit the screen).
It's weird thinking this was Alan Rickman's first movie. It's weird thinking that this movie will be 30 next year. I didn't think I was that old!
This is one of those movies that I will stop at and watch if I surf across it on TV. This movie is like comfort food. And yes, I consider it my favorite Christmas movie!
John McClane- Bruce Willis then spends most of the next two hours in a three way battle with the terrorist ring leader Hans-played to evil perfection by Alan Rickman and several law enforcement agencies who seem just as intent on destruction as the other two. It is basically two hours of human and property destruction blanketing a story. Die Hard is interesting though in how it did toss in a little humor to spice things up which isn’t necessarily the hallmark of an action franchise. Of course, if you love watching stuff get blown up, maybe the entire thing is funny to you.
It was one heck of a way to close out 2017.

Some even call it a Christmas movie. Everyone must see this film (I believe it is a law.)
