The print edition from this publisher is virtually unreadable. Pages, paragraphs, and sentences are omitted, and it is impossible to tell how much the text is missing. OCR was used and many individual letters are dropped or wrong (typos). This takes the prize as the worst formatted "book" I've ever received. If you'd like to play a nasty joke on someone, send them this edition and ask for a book report.

Because Taylor's work is so prescient, unknown, and important, I went ahead and ordered another edition which does not use OCR. I recommend doing this or reading the Kindle edition.

Robert Taylor was second behind Charles-François Dupuis and de Volney in finding astrotheology of Jesus Christ. In fact, he mentions Dupruis in his book. I still need to read their works to see if Robert Taylor went beyond them; but, I have read much contemporary efforts to present astrotheology, comparative mythology, and midrashing of the old testament to derive Jesus Christ, and I can say, they don't seem to have gone much beyond Robert Taylor's Diegesis. You can read Robert Taylor's book here, and get up to speed!

Well, that's if you've read Robert Eisenman's "James brotther of Jesus." Although, Robert does mention Hegesippus about James the Just, who wore white linen, was holy from his mother's womb, and supplieating for the remission of the sins of the people, and he mentions Origen's saying Josephus doesn't know of a Jesus Christ; he does not know about brother's being not blood brother, but "welcome to the club" brother, which is mentioned in the Origen passage.

In terms of astrotheology, he doesn't know any proofs that the twelve followers of Jesus Christ are the twelve constellatoins, I'l mention one here,

Clementine homoliee, 2:23, " and as the #Lord had twelve #apostles, bearing the number of the twelve months of the #sun,"

- Robert Taylor also, remarkably to me, doesn't note that Jesus Christ is a pro-Roman Jew. Jesus says "give to caesar what is his." He's then given to Pontus Pilate to be crucified by the Jews. But wait, read more details carefully! Pontus says, we'll keep this criminal, and give back Jesus Christ, king of the Jews" back to you. For which the Jews are made to say, no, we'll take the criminal, you crucify Jesus Christ. In fact, further, the Jews are made to take the blame for the crucification. Pontus Pilate cleanses his hands of the blood of crucification. In John 19:15, the Jews are even made to say "we have no other ruler but Caesar!" Reverend Robert Taylor here, doesn't mention this at all!

Just comes to show that one needs to explore on your own, and even read, stand on the shoulders of more giants.

The misses noted above do not take anything from what Robert Taylor reveals. Some, are implicity still there, such as the Hegesippis quote. But, he doesn't take note that maybe James the Just is the historical Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is a hellenistic over-write for James the Just, who's competing with Paul for the rights to the new religion. Paul went to the Romans, and the rest is history.

A Masterpiece of Comparative Religion

"The DIEGESIS; Being A Discovery of the Origin, Evidences, and Early History of Christianity, Never Yet Before or Elsewhere So Fully and Faithfully Set Forth." Written in 1829, this masterpiece of Comparative Religion was so far ahead of its time that it's still a useful reference today. It's an historical showing that the Christian religion did not originate according to the narrative of the gospels, but was more ancient. It's a wonderful read, eloquently written, containing vast amounts of scholarly research. Modern day scholars such as Acharya S cite this book as a reference. The information it contains is as relevant today as it was two centuries ago.

Robert Taylor was a gifted orator, writer, and scholar. He started as a reverend, but left the church when his research into Christianity revealed the conventional story of Christian origins as taught by all Christian churches was untenable. A true champion of freethought, Taylor could not be silenced.

In 1824 Taylor moved to London and founded the Christian Evidence Society. The society published a brief manifesto stating their four grand propositions: "1) That the scriptures of the New Testament, were not written by the persons whose names they bear. 2) That they did not appear in the times to which they refer. 3) That the persons, of whom they treat, never existed. 4) That the events which they relate, never happened."

In 1828 Robert Taylor was sentenced to Oakham Gaol (jail) for one year for blasphemy and for "a conspiracy to overthrow the Christian Religion." In Oakham Gaol Taylor wrote "SYNTAGMA," being a vindication of his manifesto wherein he presents all the evidence supporting his four grand propositions, and wherein he replies to the myriad of attacks by the Rev. Dr. John Pye Smith. After writing SYNTAGMA, Taylor went on to write this masterpiece, "The DIEGESIS."

Upon release from Oakham Gaol Taylor secured a location and began preaching sermons every Sunday explaining the astronomical foundation of numerous stories in the Bible. These 48 eloquent sermons are preserved in the two volume set THE DEVIL'S PULPIT (Volume 1 is available from Amazon. Volume 2, currently not available from Amazon, is available at [...] [(...)])
