Editorial Reviews

Iron Maiden were one of the leaders of the early-1980s New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement energized by the spirit of punk. Maiden built upon their initial cult success, eventually leading to global domination by the mid '80s. The band's singer for the first couple of albums was Paul Di'Anno, but the arrival of vocalist Bruce Dickinson marked the vintage Iron Maiden era. In the '90s, Dickinson was replaced briefly by Blaze Bayley before the classic lineup reunited at that decade's end.

Finally, for once the U.S. version of a Maiden single is actually better than its UK and Europe versions. This is definately worth the buy because Hallowed Be Thy Name never sounded so much better. It is worth buying solely for that purpose because Hallowed Be Thy Name is an awesome recording on this CD. The UK and Europe versions of this same CD have another live recoding of Iron Maiden on it...I love Maiden I have seen them play over 20 times here in California and in Europe, but please I don't need to hear another live version of Iron Maiden...having saying that this CD is definately worth the buy and if you are a die hard fan than find a way to get the UK version of this as well as it has a live photo of the band during the Matter of Life and Death tour. Unlike the U.S. version which only has the cover of Eddie.

Different world is definitely the best open track for the album A Matter of Life and Death. It features much of the band's permanent power chord riffs and operatic vocal produced by Bruce Dickinson; showing the band's continuous success in the resurgence of popularity into the 2000s.

The B-Side contains their 2006 version Fear of the Dark. Perhaps not the best song to include on the B-Side due to its overplayed nature by the band since its existence.

Again, Iron Maiden shows no signs of fading with the second single from A Matter of Life and Death" Different World. This single itself contains the two tracks previously only available on the 7" vinyl single for Benjamin Breeg. For a collector, this is an easy buy, low cost, fun to listen to. With the loud crunch and reasonable speed, this is a great opening track for the album. Upbeat and good chorus. Pick this up, you will like it.

This single is great for any Maiden collector- this is the U.S. single and not the U.K. one. It features "Different World" which is the opening track from A Matter of Life and Death. The rerecorded versions of "Hallowed Be Thy Name" and "The Trooper" are excellent and are done in the fashion Maiden plays them live. Overall, this is a must have for the Maiden collector, but a hit or miss for a casual fan. But if you love Maiden, you won't be disappointed.

This is Iron Maiden's first single from the latest album "A Matter of Life and Death." The single includes 3 tracks "Different World" and two older songs "Hallowed Be Thy Name" and "The Trooper" both of which were recorded during the Radio 1 Legends Session. Great songs, great artwork, what more can one say??
