My 11 year old daughter has gotten very good a throwing spirals, the 8 year old is working on it and the 6 year old is not afraid to face this ball down - literally with her face.
The kids actually bug me towards evening to go out in the yard and throw the ball around. It is a nice break from all the PPC plastic pink crap.
I would recommend this ball to anyone looking for a good 'Nerf' like ball, easy to throw and about 6/10 to 7/10 the size of a normal football.
It's a good size - not as big as a junior football but not so small that you can't hurl it a good distance. It's also easy to catch and throw a spiral. It cut through the breeze on the beach well enough but the heavier wind gusts altered the trajectory a bit. It landed in the water a few times and didn't come up waterlogged which was nice.
DURABILITY! That's the sole reason I'm giving it two stars. I understand this ball isn't meant to be thrown on pavement, but we only got about an hour's worth of use on the beach before it literally split down the middle. And this is SAND. We knew it wouldn't last long - Every time it hit the ground, a new chunk would come off. But we barely got any play out of it. If it weren't for these issues, I would have gladly given this product four stars.
ONLY CAVEOT - younger kids may have a hard time throwing spirals at first. It takes a little practice to get those wind piercing tight spirals. Not for me of course, but my 14 yr old needed about 20 min of practice before he started zipping in spirals.
* we (me) even stuff one in the suitcase when we go away on vacation! Never a shortage of other dads/kids on the beach in mexico ready for a pickup game.
Nerf also makes a soft foam curving baseball that we also have a ton of fun throwing. check em out...[...]

So, this is great until it gets wet. After that point it feels like a very juicy Sponge you just want to rip apart. Read morePublished 20 days ago by Rachel Mooney
This ball is aerodynamic and is heavier than a standard Nerf ball. Those two characteristics make it fly very far when you throw it. Read morePublished 28 days ago by Douglas J Henderson
