product_description The accuracy of this DigiWeigh DW-100AS is perfect for weighing lab chemicals, loose diamonds & gemstones, gunpowder, and other valuable and/or hazardous materials which require exact precision. The GRAIN mode is commonly used to weigh gunpowder for reloading and archery arrows. The GRAM and OUNCE modes are great for weighing lab chemicals, specimen, and even precious metals like scrap jewelry & bullion; the Ounce mode is also great for food portions. The TARE button allows you to reset the scale to '0' while in use; perfect when weighing powders, oils or liquids. The calibration weights can be used to re-calibrate the scale from time to time, ensuring consistent measurements. High quality strain gauge load cell system makes it accurate in full capacity range. High density ABS housing and metal support makes it very durable. Large high contrast LCD display makes the readouts clear to read. User can switch off the back-lite to save power. Flip-open cover protects scale's platform when not in use. Includes batteries, calibration weight, instructions, and Lifetime Warranty.

I followed the directions, I calibrated the scale and switched it to "gn" for grains. Initially, it read correctly (I have a manual scale to compare with).
My load was 5.0 gn of fHP-38 in .45 ACP for reference, with 185 TMJ bullets. This is the minimum load suggested. Max was 5.9 gn.
Manual scale read my charges (and I will say that I am completely anal retentive and checked multiple times since I have a new powder hopper). at 5.0 grains.
Digital read at starting at 5.0 and reading all the way up to 5.8 in some instances - with the same charge weighing in at 5.0 on the manual scale.
This is using the tare function with the powder scoop from the manual scale - so I know the charge was the same for both scales with differences in "weight" according to this digital scale.
My suggestion? I wouldn't use it for weighing powder at all. This kind of inaccuracy can leave you blind, missing fingers or blow up your gun. I would invest in a good manual scale. They aren't hard to read as I would have expected, and that was my main factoring decision in buying this one initially.
