About the Author

Mike de la Flor is a freelance medical illustrator and writer. He is the author of The Carrara Studio 3 Handbook, and is a contributing writer for 3D World Magazine. He is an adjunct instructor at Kingwood College where he teaches computer graphics. Mike has served as staff illustrator at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and Baylor College of Medicine. He has been a professional member of the Association of Medical Illustrators since 1992.

Mike de la Flor has worked as s medical illustrator and animator for nearly 20 years. He authored the popular title "The Digital Biomedical Illustration Handbook", which was also translated into Japanese.

He also authored and co-authored books on various 3D programs including Autodesk Mudbox. Mike is a contributing writer for prominent computer graphics magazines including 3DWorld and MacWorld.

After a successful career in medical illustration, Mike has returned to school and is currently a PhD graduate student in biology and biochemistry at the University of Houston.
