The GT-190 is very easy to set up, I personally run it as a 3rd monitor since my video card supports more than 2 monitors so I installed the drivers first before installing the monitor from Huion's website. Then I connected the tablet and turned on PC and it automatically sets up for you. I would advise downloading the latest drivers off the Huion website for best use and to have the Driver Settings Application.
Native Resolution is 1440x900 @ 60 hz. Like others have said the viewing angle is slightly a turn-off due to it's using a TFT screen, but once you start working with it you will find your sweet spot when drawing and see clearly, But If you're really anal about viewing angles then this product is not for you. There are no jitters, lagginess, cursor is very responsive and very sensitive to pressure I would suggest adjusting your pressure settings first before trying to draw anything.
I love the design of the GT-190, it goes perfectly with my other two black monitors and is very sleek and stylish. The screen is very clear and sharp with great resolution. The tablt has a nice feel and is very comfortable to use.
At $450-500, It's extremely affordable for what you get. If you are an amateur or professional looking to get a pen tablet monitor, this is easily the best on the market for value and to get your feet wet to see if it's something you want without having to invest over $2,000 dollars on the industry standard "Cintiq".
I gave it 4 stars for the not so great viewing angles, other than that this is a solid monitor tablet that beats out the other tablets in the same price range.
The 3 stars is more the driver issues, and that they where always ongoing. Not the conflict with Wacom, as I would just uninstall. Just, it shouldn't take months of waiting for drivers to finally work. It did end up working, but overall my experience has been meh.
Viewing angles, not as good as I was expecting. I read that they weren't the best, but I feel like there is only one good spot otherwise the colors have issues and everything gets washed out.
For drawing, after I got the drivers to finally work, it was pretty good actually. Pretty comparable to a cintiq. Sometimes it would "skip" in lines, but otherwise pretty solid. Pressure sensitivity was good. I would recommend getting a drawing glove, the glass screen sticks to your hand.
If you are debating between this and a Yiynova, I've not used a Yiynova but I would try that instead. I've heard much better things about it. Otherwise, if you have the money, go for a Cintiq. I've now upgraded to one, it's hard to use anything else once you are used to Wacom.
I do hope Huion continues to improve and get better, and I've heard good things about their newer graphic monitor tablet. Wacom definitely needs some competition, and to lower their prices.
ALSO, if you are used to and used the eraser nib feature of tablet pens, don't get this. I honestly thought I would get used to not having an eraser, but as an avid user of them on my wacom tablet for 8 or so years, I just couldn't untrain myself.
Also another note, I thought the resolution wouldn't bother me, but after doing art and design for so long anything less than 1080p is bothersome. If resolution matters to you, get one with higher resolution.
Bottom line: This is a good and affordable (compared to others) introduction to tablet monitors. If you don't own any Wacom tablets (or have a computer where you don't plan on using a wacom tablet on), it would be good. As long as the drivers work, it's solid for what it is. But if you are a professional or are used to better quality products, save up the money and get something better (one of the newer huions if it's as good as I read, Yiynova, or Cintiq). Since I am majoring in graphic design and have an internship in the field, I needed something of higher caliber. I think a high school student would love this though, I know I would have gone gaga if I got this when I first started using tablets 9 or so years ago.
I am welcome to questions if anyone has them. I had a windows computer for this, for reference.
This tablet is wonderful! Especially considering the cheapest Wacom LCD tablet is smaller and costs twice as much! The hardware itself is a sexy sleek design and I have no complaints about the adjustable standing-bar it has. I wish there was a swivel option for the tablet but I can always buy desk mounts for that. The tracking and resolution of the screen are excellent! I have no issues doing illustrations or design work on this tablet. You will likely want to do some adjustments to the color balance when you receive it. This can be easily done using the monitor buttons as well as other adjustments. Do note that windows mirror modes will adjust your screen or tablet to whichever has the lowest resolution. This is inevitable.
Let me just rave about the service of this vendor though. They are amazing. The first tablet shipped to me was broken on arrival thanks to Customs doing an exceedingly poor re-packing job. I was actually contacted on the day the tablet arrived via email to ensure my satisfaction and that I received it. I was immediately able to address the issue and they handled it with skill and speed. Within a week I had another tablet and a prepaid shipping label to use to send the old one back. I received constant communication and tracking numbers to know where the package was. Couldn't be happier at the end of the whole thing.
