My daughter had 7 wii games that would not play- to include one we bought on ebay that arrrived not working. At $50 a pop, I really didn't want to replace the wii game collection so I looked around to see what could fix them and came across this product. After reading the reviews on several similar products this seemed to be the best one and very budget friendly.

I recieved it yesterday and the first thing I noticed was that it didn't have the drying rag or buffing rag. Then I realized it was actually in the storage compartment of the machine. I had been about ready to call the company- irritated to the gills- when I noticed the drying rag neatly coiled in the machine. Ooohhh...

After reading the directions, I ran my daughters games through it once. I noticed the first four were kind of cloudy but the last three weren't. I figured out that the first four I hadn't sprayed enough of the solution on the disks. They came out better the second time around. When I tried the disks in the wii game, two out of the seven worked. I ran them through a couple of times more and five of them worked. The last two wii games, one had to be run through a total of 6 times and the other a total of 8 times- but they all work now. At $50 a disk, seven disks, that's $350 this little puppy just saved me.

When I looked at the spray bottle it said 'for use with dvd Dr., cd Dr. and game Dr. So out there somewhere is a game doctor which is probably what I should have bought, but this one worked on the wii games so I won't even sweat it. I almost didn't buy this product because of the negative reviews but I'm so glad I did. I came to realize that most people are more likely to write a negative review than a postive one because when you're mad you want to do something about it and this motivates you to bash the product when you really just want to set it on fire and dance on the ashes (ok, maybe that's just me). I'm sure every product has defective ones produced, so maybe that's just the case with the negative reviews, I'm not sure. But I am sure that this thing worked for me like a charm and it saved me a lot of money when you look at the potential costs of replacing the video game discs. So from now on I'll be writing rewiews- good or bad- to do my share. I know I rely heavily on customer reviews to choose and purchase products so I figure I should put in my two cents too. Anyhow, I'll get off my soap box now. The Skip Doctor was definately a good product and definately worth the price.

Works just as advertised

The Skip Dr. is one of those rare devices that does exactly what it is advertised to do (no DVD that has a scratch on the label side of the disk can be repaired, and some very deep scratches on a playing side may not be repairable--if the first repair does not work, repeat the process). Though operation of the device is fairly intuitive, the directions for use are clear and it is worthwhile to read and follow them. It's important to realize that CDs and DVDs aren't read the same way that LPs were, back in the olden days (okay, MY olden days--it's humbling to have to explain to your 14-year-old what a "45" or "LP" or even "an album" is). CD/s and DVDs aren't read starting at the outside and spiraling in, they are read in lines starting from the center of the disk and out toward the edge. This is important to realize so that you know why you should only dry and buff a disk from the center outward, take the cloth off the disk, and do it again (from the center straight out,working your way around the disk. Don't swipe the cloth around and around the face of the disk or you will just create more scratches that will interfere with playback. Don't scrub back and forth, just wipe from the center out. Same with the buffing cloth. The Skip Dr's cleaning wheel cleans the disk in the proper direction, from the center out. It leaves "rays" that are like faint shadow-spokes radiating out from the center of the disk to the edge. These faint lines don't interfere with playback in any way. A drying cloth and buffing cloth are included. The procedure is basically spray on the repair solution, place the disk in Skip Dr. (which will start and stop automatically), remove the disk when ejected, dry it off, buff a little (don't go for a chrome-like shine--it's not important for reading the disk and if "new car shine" is that important to you, forget repair and replace the disk with a new one. This is a repair, not a reincarnation). I have used several manual machines over the years and this does the best of the lot--5 moderately damaged disks, all of which play without errors. Oh, and Disk Dr. comes with a lifetime warranty, but I believe you have to send it in its original box--so hang onto the box.

I was very sceptical about this product as i have used others before....which were completly useless and badly scratched game discs, anyhoo, this is brilliant! the PS2 discs my kids have were just not working and it cost me £2.99 per disc to get cleaned! This product is really worth its money, out of 22 discs that i cleaned with SkipDr, only one refuses to work and even badly scratched discs work! This repair kit is great also because the cleaning spray stores away on top of the machine, the cleaning and buffing cloth stores away in the back of it so it saves you time trying to find it all when next needed! No repetative handle turning on this little baby! Jus plug it in spray disc and place in slot, the disc is ejected after cleaning (about a minute) then all you do is place disc on blue cloth and buff with small the white one, i did find that if game didn't play, i just re-cleaned and it played. It has saved me a lot of money in the long run and it does pay for it's self. I definately recommend this product!

I've had various disk cleaners over the years and not found any of them to be very effective; that said they were not billed as 'resurfacing' devices. I've had my share of damaged media and tried all the tricks, one of the best prior to this was Displex (a product for removing scratches from mobile phone display windows), although this needs caution. So when I discovered this device, it seemed my days of manually buffing out scratches were over - and they are.

I must say however that after the first 'treatment' of one disk, I was surprised just how abrasive this kit is. Don't get me wrong, it's not likely to do any damage but I didn't expect quite the level of abrasion I observed at first use. Maybe this will level out with use. No matter, it did the Job and made my HD-DVD 'Bourne Ultimatum' bought used from Amazon Marketplace playable for the first time in two years of ownership! That is recommendation enough for me, so it gets 5 stars (not the movie though, LOL).

I have three boys and over the course of the past 6 months we established several damaged X-Box 360 games due to laser burn (which I believe are the worse possible kinds of disc damage)...
I promised I would eventually take them to our local Blockbuster who provide a disc repair service - but at £3.99 per. disc. When our total reached 5 damaged discs including 2 copies of Modern Warfare 2 I decided to purchase SkipDr Premier - and boy - am I glad I did !

The one supplied by Amazon came with a free mains adapter and within half an hour all 5 discs were fully repaired and back to working order. One of the discs with a more severe burn needed three 'doses' of the machine, and the burn was still slightly visible even after this, but it was back to working order. You'll need to purchase top-ups of the repair solution and the cleaning disc every so often, but without a doubt this little machine works and will pay for itself many times over.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting a miracle when I first got the SkipDr started. And when I had finished buffing the game after the process, there were still some scratches on the surface. And then it played pretty perfectly. I did it with another game disc, worth as much as the machine I used to fix it. And then I fixed a collection of DVDs that were very badly damaged from continuous watching. They played without a hitch after the SkipDr worked its magic. Why haven't I given it 5/5? Well, it did take slightly longer for both my laptop and PS3 to recongise the discs. That said, they worked fine after a few seconds. Also, there is very little disc cleaning fluid included. I don't know whether the tiny bottle will last the 50-or-so cleans the circular cleaner can do. But for me, something that can cure a very scratched disc almost 100% is a great investment. It has already payed for itself. If, like me, you tend to buy some rarer/highly popular games that are often out of stock when you want them, this is a great way to extend the life (and even rejuvenate the life)of your favourite games. Plus, by the time you've needed to fix it more than ten times, the game will be up for a free, legal download anyway.

Been buying some cheap dvd's recently, and experiencing the odd skip and stop on a few. Figured giving this a try was cheaper than postage costs returning movies i'd got for less than a quid!
First disc i tried had major stop and seize in two places, yet the disc looked perfect. Ran it through the Dr once and the problem was still there, and the disc looked really scuffed.
My initial thoughts were 'what a piece of crap!' Ran it through a second time and the disc looked much better and...it was skip free! The thing does actually do the job! Now a few disc's later it's already paid for itself, and i have a few very grateful friends too!
Use plenty of fluid for a good result(It's only water with a bit of rubbing alchohol in it should you run out).
