It came with batteries. They lasted two disc cleanings. The first I did wasn't very scratched it came out worse then before I put it in. Thought I was imagining things so I tried on a disc not much better. It was once again worse then before. The blue cloth I think even scratched my disc the buffer isn't great either. I checked the ingredients list on the cleaning bottle which arrived open by the way. Is actually filtered water and .5pecent of some kind of preservative. Meaning congratulations you have a battery powdered disc scratcher.....

Ok, so I wrote an initial review that it didn't work for me, but I'm updating my review as I was able to finally get it to work. I followed the instructions to the letter, but it took multiple passes. I wet the disc, let it make two passes, dried then buffed as the directions described. I repeated this process until the disc was corrected enough for me to get a good image of it. The key really was to make sure the disc stayed wet while it was working. After the first pass, I continued to lightly add the spray to ensure it stayed wet the whole time. The disc I had was originally damaged with circular scratches and not radial ones, which is why I assume it took so much time. I think I did 10-12 repairs before it was good enough to work, and yes, the disc has the radial "buffing" lines on it from using the SkipDr, but those are normal as also indicated by the instructions.

Worked great for 4 or 5 uses. It then would not spin the desk anymore... Took it apart just to see if I could fix something. Its is made of cheap nylon gears; that don't mess well. I guess the did that way so nothing would happen when there wasn't a disk inserted but the play was so bad that it just stopped mating altogether. Maybe just my bad luck but this is the third one of the ShipDr devices I've owned. The others lasted longer but were completely manual, and while that was doable on a not who bad disk it became arm wrenching to get a bad disk to play. Don't know what to try next....

This product is amazing. We hooked up or old Wii and some of our favorite disks weren't working. I bought this, got it in 2 days and fixed 6 out of the 7 disks that weren't working. I'm going to keep trying on the last one it was pretty scratched and the oldest disk.

This used to be the go to brand for disc cleaning and repair. I bought the automatic model and it would stop and start constantly like the load is too much. Switched to a better battery brand, worked twice as fast and then began to stop/start again. Purchased the ac cord for the unit, still does the stop start. I will not be purchasing another one. it does do a great job, still, when it works.

This item worked once. Halfway through the second CD, it started making a clicking/thumping sound and would not stop even when the batteries were changed.

I wound up buying digital copies of the CDs I needed and will burn new copies instead of trying to fix the originals. Missed my return window, so this item is going into the donation box. Someone else can try it without paying 30 bucks.

Instead of dealing with the hassle of returning them, we decided to try fixing them ourselves. Not happening with this machine. I've a few different CD cleaners over the years, but this one is by far my favorite. I used this on a Microsoft Office suite CD that had several deep scratches. How deep were they? Well, they were obtained when the laptop was dropped while the CD was being used for an installation. That tends to leave deeper than usual scratches. Not wanting to spend the large amount of it would take to buy a new Office suite (my version isn't supported by Microsoft for download anymore) I decided to give this machine a shot. Well, the instructions say to do two full rotations and then dry/buff out the CD and I did just that. I noticed the scratches were doing better but not completely taken care of so I repeated the process two more times. It worked! Both my computers can now read the CD.

TLDR

CD had deep scratches and computer couldn't read it. SkipDr fixed the scratches and now it works.
