I thought something simple like this can’t go wrong but I was wrong. It’s a garbage.
Well worth the money, a great product. Thumbs up!
It's very easy to use and easy to read from a ways away. The beep sound is not consistent, it goes from a lower sound to a higher one after a few beeps. I don't think it's intentional.
It counts up or down, so if you need a stopwatch type function it works that way as well as a countdown timer with alarm. Very simple, no frills or settings to worry about.
To set a timer, you just press the M for however many minutes you'd like, and the S for however many seconds you'd like, and press START/STOP (the biggest button).
To start timing something, just press the big button, and press it again to stop timing.
Press the 2 smaller buttons together at the same time to clear the screen back to zero. There's an on/off switch on the side, it's super little.
It takes one AAA battery that's not included.
But...it has to be done. There have to be better choices out there.
My two timers arrived very quickly, and I installed a brand new name brand battery in one.
When you stick the timer on the refrigerator (at eye height), the digits are a bit hard to read because overhead lights throw a shadow on the top of the LCD digits (because there is not much room between the top of the display and the start of the plastic body, which protrudes a bit), so I learned to set it up higher.
When I went to set the timer, I realized it has a maximum time of 99 minutes ... too short for many kitchen applications.
Worse yet ... and this is the show stopper ... the display is quite hard to read, unless you get it at the right angle with the light. There's no backlight, and the contrast between the background and the "on" digits is poor. At first, I thought "battery must be dead", and I tried a new one of a different name brand...same thing.
When I set it (for 15 minutes), I had to annoy other people near me with 15 "beeps" ... one per button press. There appears to be no way to turn it off.
On the good side, the alarm is loud (much better than my more expensive year-old 3-track alarm),
and the magnet keeps it positioned on the refrigerator well.
Would I buy it again? No.
Will I continue to use it? Not likely...as soon as I find a better one, this goes to the "good will" bag.
The second photo I took (timer sitting on the counter top, kitchen lights on), shows how hard it is to read.
One nice feature: when you hit 'stop' after the alarm triggers, the countdown resets to the original value (not to 0). This is clearly the obvious thing for a timer to do (as getting it to '0:00' is usually a single easy keypress), so I'm happy to see that feature!

I find these to be very good products, more robust than similar more expensive timers and a good value for their low price.
