When I got the first two of these, I had no experience with DTV, and was immediately impressed with the quality(using coax output in all cases). I originally chocked it up to the raw power of DTV, assuming that all DTV boxes were this good(I later found out this was not the cases when I tried both RCA and Magnavox boxes). I got many of my local channels, and went from one good analog channel, to two digital channels (three networks - CBS, ABC, Fox - due to sub-channels). In late 2009, I got a clearance "Radio Shack 15-2187" amplified outdoor antenna (badged antenna craft HDX1000), and increased from about 6 channels (which I had managed to tune in by that point with mixed results), to 12 channels (6 stations + 6 sub-channels - most within 20 miles of me).
Overall the device is a pleasure to use, with very little to complain about. The remote is great, including a zoom button for aspect ratio, and the on-screen interface is simple and straightforward. The EPG displays at least 2 days of data based on what my local stations transmit. The channel scan feature allows you to update rather than rescan so that you don't lose your current channels(helpful for me when I take it other places to use), and the edit section allows you to skip channels you don't want to view.Read more ›

Easy to set up. Was more than I wanted to spend. Have had some disruption in my sound and picture. Just taking awhile to get used to it.Published on August 26, 2013 by HARRY THOMAS
