Best pitch shifting pedal ever made and a mist for every guitarist.
Finally true bypass! And finally beats the mythical Wh-1!! The first whammy used by such greats as David Gilmour... It is simply the best pitch shifting pedal there is... Nust note I am talking about the Whammy version 5. Which the one described here... Don't go buying a used 2 or 3 ... They don't have the same dynamics or sweet sound.... They say the used 800 dlls whammy 1 is still the one to have... But I think digitech is definitely bringig back top quality to it's gear... Not just with this pedal, but like it's lexicon reverb "polara" or the extreme and amazing delay "Obscura Altered" those are just top notch abd beats most boutique pedals in quality and what matters the most: SOUND!!! I keep seeing all these bogus comments on some sites and youtube videos about the whammy being this awful tone sucking machine that destroys your tone... This clueless people obviously don't know what they are talking about or got a deffective unit... Still the best!!! Listen to "The Blue" by David Gilmour to hear what this lovely effect can do.... A must for every board... And the fact that it has a large footprint it has become lart of its charm... If they ever make an uktra compact whammy even though it would make a lot of folks happy, I wouldn't be one of them!!! Long love the big red!!!
I love this thing! The polyphonic pitch shifting capabilities are amazing on this. It sounds totally natural, it doesn't get "confused" by different notes in chords like other pitch shifters I have previously used did. I used to bring 3 different guitars in different tunings every time my band played a show and now I can play all of our songs on one guitar and just change tunings with a twist of the knob on the Whammy DT pedal! The classic pitch shifting functions on the left side are tons of fun too. This thing exceeded my expectations and I can't imagine not having it in my setup ever again. It's very well built and it's actually smaller than I thought it would be. I definitely recommend this for anyone that likes to use various tunings for their music and hates constantly re-tuning their guitars. It also has a cool momentary switch, this either engages or disengages the drop tune function (depending on if the DT switch is on or off, the momentary switch goes to the opposite setting) and it only stays active as long as the switch is depressed. Fun, versatile, functional, weird, and very very useful. Get one.
Great product , fair price I am diving in slowly this pedal has many sonic possibilities… I hear things going in a variety of of ways with this added to my pedal board … Degitech has nailed this one … L.Rashaan Rich , Guitarist
To be clear, this is not the best pedal for harmonizing modal melodies or sounding like there are multiple live musicians in the room. The sound is good, but it is a digital pedal, so it sounds a bit unnatural.
That being said, I love this pedal. The available options for harmonizing and pitch alteration can’t be found in any other single pedal. If you want to practice a song in a lower tuning, this works great. I’m no longer wasting time tuning down a half step for every other 90’s grunge song.
One warning for anyone thinking of adding this to their pedal board. It is digital, so be ready for 9v 300mA requirements.
Im sure the $7-800 originals are the best....but for this kind of money this pedal is an excellent purchase. All the left side harmony level settings and the chorus can be great in studio and as songwriting aids or embellishments, while the Whammy side is what I use mainly during the live shows. It has been awesome thus far to see the crowd facial expressions as I use the 2 octave settings and they are so into it.....it's such a foreign-sounding guitar effect but is super cool at the same time. I play professionally and tour regularly, and in my experience had only come across this pedal once in seeing someone else perform. Thats when I decided to get one and for the $185 or roughly that (what I spent on Amazon), this pedal was worth every penny....I would even say it's worth more with all the settings. If you have any reservations, go to youtube and type in "digitech whammy demo". there are several thorough demos that will walk you through everything. This pedal rocks!
Shipped from Madrid and got here on time, this is the 5th generation pedal, gone is the need for 9vac (special extra adapter) replaced with 9vdc , Dry out jack is goners well as weird artifacts in the sounds that the 4th generation made. (some do like the weird artifacts though, purely subjective) This pedal has a slightly smaller footprint and now comes with a LED by this foot switch and true bypassing.
New Digitech Whammy Pedal with oldschool Logo and true bypass. I compared it with an older version and it sounds a little warmer (less digital), I use mostly the 1 or 2 octaves up and in the older version it does a more digital jump between notes, which I kinda miss because with this version if you dont use the expression pedal properly you can hear the notes in between the pitch bend. Also, it would be better if the settings knob was further away from the expression pedal, every once in while I change settings by mistake while going up and down with my foot.
Probably the most entertaining pedal I have. Mix it with other effects and you can get endless different sounds out of it. If you don't want to restring your guitar to play in a different key while keeping the same pattern, you can cheat with this. If you want to record bass for a song, this works surprisingly. The classic vs chords switch does indeed make a difference when using the harmony options. I recommend mixing this with a wah wah pedal and you really get a grip on the sound. If you don't feel like making highly unusual sounds, the chorus effects are beautifully done. I tend to leave it on one of those when I'm not doing much with this pedal.
Definitely recommend for an experimental guitarist or any musician seeking out unique sounds.
I had a whammy pedal about 20 years ago and loved it, but lost it in an interprovincial move. This pedal improves upon the previous 4th gen pedal by adding in the ability to pitch shift chords and not just single notes. The pedal has all of the familiar features of previous whammy pedals as well including the harmony intervals , the intervallic whammy settings (1 octave up and down , 2 octaves up and down, 4th and 5th up and down and 2nd down). This iteration also has detune function (deep and shallow) which is essentially a chorus like setting. This pedal also has a "dive bomb" setting which replicates the sound of a real whammy bar being fully depressed into the body of a guitar. Super simple to use with a rotary dial to select the setting, a heavy duty on/off switch and a treadle to control the individual settings. The input and output are standard and the pedal also has midi compatibility with midi input. The included power supply has 2 applicable plugs, one for North American plugs and one for European plugs. This is all encased in a metal housing that stand up top years of road use. If you are into tonal experimentation, this is a pedal that you should have. Tons of fun and a TON of uses for guitar. The only limit is your imagination. This pedal has been a staple of players like Tom Morello, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Dimebag Darrell, Jack White, and a ton of others.
Retour.
