Alison Ragsdale, the author of "Dignity and Grace" has written a memorable, thought-provoking, captivating, bittersweet, intriguing a poignant novel. The genres for this novel are literary fiction and fiction. The author describes her characters as colorful and dramatic characters as complex and complicated. The themes in this novel deal with death with dignity, secrets, second chances, forgiveness, hope, living, and love. The protagonist in this story Iona is on a quest for the truth. I love that the story has the essence of music and art
This story reminds me of this quote: "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything"- Plato
Iona receives a letter from her father on her 21st Birthday from her deceased mother, Grace. Grace was a professional cellist. Iona is about to go on a journey to learn about her mother's life and death. Along the way, Iona meets people that are important pieces of the emotional puzzle that Iona must solve. I love the way that Alison Ragsdale vividly describes the details of this amazing story. I would highly recommend this emotional and unique novel.

The title of this book says it all. What a heartwarming and emotional story. Iona retraced her Mother's last steps before her mother's passing. Along the way as she finds herself, she discovers family secrets that were buried. Still grieving her mother's loss and hurting.
The descriptions of Scotland made me feel like I was right there traveling this journey with Iona.
A book that once I started putting down was impossible as my heart was emotionally attached to Iona and what she was discovering.
I received an ARC prior to publication and decided to voluntarily review it. Opinions expressed are my own.

Alison Ragsdale's latest masterpiece "dignity & grace" is a 5 ⭐ deeply emotional and poignant story of family secrets, love, loss and forgiveness. Set in Scotland, with beautiful and vivid descriptions, I guarantee following Iona on her journey of discovery and understanding will be an experience you won't soon forget. Truly one of those books that at times I experienced the raw emotions and had to close my eyes and just digest for a bit.

This is the first book I have read by this author and certainly won’t be the last one. It is a wonderful story set in beautiful Scotland as the backdrop. The characters fit in well with the story and seem very real and believable. I enjoyed taking the emotional journey with Iona Muir who is out in search of the secrets about her mother. A story of family, loss, forgiveness and hope will touch the hearts of many. It left me thinking of what the true meaning of FAMILY is. The essence of the book is captured in the quote “Music is enough for a lifetime but a lifetime is not enough for music”-Sergel Rachmainoff.

I thought the storyline rang true - how much we miss out on through looking back - but then the positive ending. I enjoyed it so much I ordered two more of her books.

This was a great book and all I could think was what a fantastic movie it would make. Enjoyed it very much. I am still a little surprised that at the end instead of a proposal or a planned wedding, there’s just a romance with them living together in a short space of time. Modern day I guess.
