The basic set-up is that we have a fugitive and a cop who would each rather become serious acquaintances, but they first have to overcome this small matter of political assassination, resisting arrest, and societal prejudice toward persons with paranormal powers.
This is a fun book. It hits the ground running and doesn't let up. It is fast paced with honestly witty dialogue and a mildly sensual overtone that is neither forced nor awkward. It's a quick, pleasant read, and the characters will linger in your mind well after the story has ended. A sequel could be justified. Just sayin'...
I use star ratings like it says on the tin: "It's OK."
This was an enjoyable enough short read, but felt like a bare story outline for a long novel. The characters and their emotions just didn't make sense to me in the short story format.
The mix of magic (e.g. the ability to "jump", and to bend matter) and sci-fi (e.g. the interrogation device) was fun, if a bit facile, but the romance seemed overly immature and cheesy.
