This kit worked great on the dings on my car from shopping carts being slammed into it's sides. You need patience for the Ding King to work but it does work!!! My car looks 99% better after using the Ding King than before. It does not remove every cease and crevice but it works great on the simple dings. You must do each ding more than once in most cases but the results are well worth it. I would highly recommend this product. Buy this product keeping "patience" in mind and you too will be satisfied with the results.
I tried this product on a dent in my daughter's car and it partially pulled the dent. The weather was hotter than the recommended ideal temperature range but the car was outside and I cannot make the weather here any cooler at this time of year(I wish I could). It might have worked better in cooler temp. I may try again later in the year. Also the dent was near a crease line in the body panel.
I had a small but noticeable dent in the fender and I wanted a cheap way to mostly fix it before committing to a full body shop. Dent King can do some jobs, but not all. For what it does, it's a pretty good product. If you fall into the category where it can help, it's worth it.
It's a "do it yourself" dent repair kit for your car. It "pulls" dents back out and is a fairly good solution for dents that ONLY require pulling "back out". This includes door and shopping cart dings you'd get in a parking lot. It has to be minor, no larger than a grapefruit, and only cosmetic dent damage to a metal panel where there is NO crease. It does not address scratches.
The ideal dent for the Dent King to repair is damage from a blunt object, like a rounded plastic corner of a shopping car dinged the middle of your door and left an indentation that is small, did not cause creases, not on a crease.
I think this is but one tool of an arsenal of tools that body shops use. That means, it is only applicable to a specific type of damage. If the dent looks like it just needs to be "sucked back out a bit", then the Dent King probably can help.
Clean the surface with the included cleaner, which smells like regular rubbing alcohol. Use the supplied glue gun and special glue sticks and dab the melted glue onto the end of the "puller" stick and adhere to the dent where you want to pull it. Allow it to cool, then straddle the "puller stick" with the 2 point brace/bridge, and screw on the tightener to the puller stick. This will pull on the dent via the stick until the glue pops off. This action "snaps" the dent out a bit; depending upon how much force the glue was able to supply. This relies on a good paint job (OEM), as it's essentially pulling on the surface of the paint.
It ends up you will need to do this multiple times to slowly work out the dent
I can still see my dents but they are greatly reduced; that is, for the ones that the Dent King could be applied to. I don't think "good as new" will ever be achieved with Dent King, but it definitely can reduce "ugly ding" to "little annoying ding".
This is one of those products that is just a tool, and really is more dependent upon the skill of the operator. For the price paid, it delivered value for its cost. But that's it.
I would like to relate my recent experience with Ding King and promise to update as new developments occur.
My order arrived and I read the instructions an attempted the repair but the glue would not bond with the pulling tab. I called the provided support number and was told that perhaps I had used too much glue. I tried again but using less glue made no difference. I then decided to return the product but was told by Potters Gifts that since the product was no longer in like new condition that I was ineligible for a refund. In anger, I called the support number again just to let them know that I intended to let the Amazon community know of the product's poor performance and of my unjust treatment. This time they told me that a batch of Ding King product had been sent out with defective plastic that did not adhere to the pulling tabs. They gave me a number, 800 471-6123, to call for remedy. I called and they are sending more pulling tabs.
We used this product some 10 years ago and liked it very much. This new one that was ordered does not work at all. The black stick of hot glue does not work, in that it will not adhere correctly. It pops off with the suction cup rather than holding the cup in place to pull the dent out. We have tried it on two items, the refrigerator and the new car. Had to end up taking the car into the garage to the tune of $158.oo to remove the ding. (It was not a crease, only an indention which the garage pushed out from the inside after removing the inside panel.
This kit worked great on a golf ball size ding next to my driver window. I followed the directions and had to apply it three times, but I can't see where the ding was. I had the truck for two days and a friend leaned a walking stick with a rubber ball on top on the door to look in. Used on a 2007 Hummer H3. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to remove small dings without painting!
I purchased this after reading many reviews, both good and bad. I found the device worked pretty well. I had a large dent (1 foot long) that took many separate pulls but it came out. You can still see slight reflection variations but only if you look closely. It is important to have both the pull tab and the car surface clean, as this will keep the glue from pulling away too soon. Also, the direction of the pull is important as well as the separation of the brace stand-offs. I only wish there was a smaller pulling tab for smaller dents. As stated in the title, it is not perfect but it works and beats spending several hundred dollars on a repair.
