Good Enough for Dino Lovers

We bought this for our toddler who really has a passion for dinosaurs and dinosaur eggs. When he plays with and cares for the eggs we keep the shrink wrap on them. Once you take off the shrink wrap the eggs have a powdery coating that comes off on your hands (due to its design to be dug into). We didn't expect our toddler to be able to dig out the dinosaur himself (since the toy is aimed for 8+), so as parents we did it for him. We found that adding water definitely helped. The biggest disappointment is that the "book" that comes with this product is actually a booklet. It has information about each of the dinosaurs so I guess it satisfies the intent. But we expected more from a National Geographic product, given how great their kid's books are.

I’ve had this set for a while and we finally dug all the dinosaurs out for our dino-loving daughter and son (5 and 2). Thankfully we got two of each dino as advertised so there was no fighting and both kiddos were happy. A couple warnings: this is VERY MESSY so plan to do this outside where it can easily be hosed off. Plan to soak the eggs for a bit to make digging easier. Even then, these are hard for little kids to get into but that is expected since it says this is for 8+. The little digging tools aren’t great but will eventually get the job done. As another review said, the brush on the other end gets ruined by pressing so hard while digging but honestly there’s so much mud and clay on these it’s better to rinse them under running water so you don’t need the brush part of the tool anyway. These are meant for parties but I’m not sure how that would work unless you planned to devote a lot a time for this activity.

Christmas present for my little granddaughter. I don’t think at this point she’ll be a digging and dinosaurs up but she was super excited when she got these along w some National Geographic realistic bugs! She is super scared of bugs and she has everything so I thought what better way to get her used to bugs and not be so terrified and she has had a ball with them and with the eggs, LOL she was digging her little heart out and finally she was just looked at her mama and said you do it! I can’t really blame her it wasn’t quite age-appropriate because she’s just 4 but she really tried so mom and dad took turns and I think they wasn’t too motivated either, LOL. It takes dedication so I’m thinking her other granny is doing these with her because her other granny is super good at helping her a learn. I would highly recommend this to anyone, heck even adults. Excellent seller, excellent product, The shipping was expedient and I have no complaints She has the love of discovery so I try to engage her mind. Boys especially would love these I think. Awesome gift!
