It has good depth and advanced details-- there is plenty here for an adult to sink their teeth into, and plenty for an adult to learn. Concepts in evolution are explained and developed throughout the book. There is very up-to-date information that has changed since the last time I was jazzed up about dinosaurs, and I learned quite a bit.
Ms. Lernin and Ronnie are likeable characters with great facial expressions. Fans of Abby's work will see her characteristic quirky humor popping up to give the book extra personality.
Definitely, definitely get this book. If you like dinosaurs, this will be a dream come true. If you're not so hot about dinosaurs, it will light the fire. Makes a fantastic gift for any age.
I'm deeply impressed. I think this book is my new gold standard for packaging an amazing amount of detail and scientific concepts in an incredibly approachable and kid-engrossing book. My six-year old loves it and consistently chooses to read this book over the usual boy-fascinations. The soft introduction and clean repetition of concepts meshed with the lush illustrations and fun characters make this book a huge win both for fun and learning. Encore, encore!
I liked learning that there wasn't grass 205 million years ago!
The book also arrived on time and in good condition.
