Exactly the same as Benadryl and will last for ages!
I have severe allergies and absolutely nothing seems to help but Benadryl. I have tried all the others and felt no relief. My sister actually buys this brand for her large dog who has allergies. He has to take six a day so she needs to buy in bulk. When I was having allergy symptoms recently, she gave me a few since I was out of Benadryl. These work exactly the same as the name brand and contain the exact same active ingredient in the same amount as Benadryl. They even look exactly like the name brand - small, oval, and pink. They are scored if you need to cut them in half. Mine expire in 8/2018. I would have liked them to last longer considering the amount in the bottle but that gives me a year and half to use them up.These make me a bit drowsy but they stop the runny nose, runny eyes, sneezing, coughing, and postnasal drip that I get when I am in contact with dust, mold, mildew, and other things - which is quite often. You can't beat the price for 600 of these pills! I paid around $6.50 for 24 Benadryl! I am going to give my sister half of the pills for her dog since it will take forever for me to use up all the pills in the bottle but, if you are looking for an alternative to Benadryl, this is the cheapest and best I have found. If only I didn't feel like falling asleep after taking one, they would be a Godsend. But they work as they should and I am happy to have found this brand - which is Costco's signature brand - at such a low price.

Excellent deal! I have been using Benadryl, (Diphenhydramine HCl is just generic Benadryl), as a sleep aid for years. I just thought it may be helpful to some who may have read R.E. Burke's review dated 02/12/2012 to hear from some one who disagrees with the possible negative qualities his AA associates have assigned it! AA is a great program and I would never want anyone to think different due to what I say, but not all the "members of AA" are experienced enough in medicine and pharmacology to be suggesting their fellow members should not reap the benefits of such a simple and safe medication as this! He mentions that some people in AA consider this an addictive drug and this can some how effect the sobriety of the member who uses it! As a Biochemist as well as a counselor at a detox for heroin and cocaine addicts, it is my opinion that this type of thinking is absurd! I have taken doses as high as 400 milligrams, following a suggestion from a well respected physician in the fields of addiction and sleep disorders! At doses this high I sleep soundly, reaching REM sleep as noted by my dream patterns! So after years of work and research in many scientific fields to do with human behavior I would hate to see a patient deprived of such a great and safe sleep aid due to fears of a drug addict in recovery returning to active drug addiction because they took Diphenhydramine and it made them sleepy! This is just my opinion and any one in this situation should make sure they do their own research before using this for a sleep aid! But in a society that is coming up with a pill for everything from "Restless Leg Syndrome" to "Excess Happiness", (LOL! These are both diagnoses being used by big pharma to sell more and more of their new advances in pharmacology! Again, LOL!!), this medication has been around for years and has never been found dangerous and does not have the many possible side effects listed in small print found on so many of these new, so called "wonder drugs" big pharma is pressuring doctors to prescribe ! It works great for many people as an antihistamine as well as relief from allergies, the main reasons it is prescribed! So no offense meant to Mr. Burke but rather a big thumbs up for Diphenhydramine, (generic Benadryl), and for this companies version of it as the price and quality are both so much better than in any store I have ever seen it in! This includes the bottles of usually 36 minitabs for $1.00 sold in so many of the "dollar" stores popping up all over the country!! I am a regular Amazon customer and I do not write many reviews but I have gotten so many nights of great sleep with the help of Diphenhydramine when I saw how inexpensive this company sells it for I just had to share my thoughts as well as experiences with my fellow Amazon regulars! I just found out recently how many medications are available either from Amazon directly or from one of the companies Amazon deals with!

I didn't have allergies until the past couple of years. This year I couldn't even go outside without getting the pollen in my throat and the coughing started immediately. Other than staying indoors until the rain came I was stuck. However, after receiving this great cheap bottle of diphenhydramine HCI 25 mg or benadryl as I call it, I'm sold. Wow! What a difference. Also, the benefit as a sleep aid is phenomenal. I can't get over over how inexpensive it is - and non-habit forming. Thanks to Amazon and their Sellers I happened upon this and bought it. It will ALWAYS be in my pill drawer. This bottle expires 11/2013.

UPDATE June 3, 2012: Thank God I had these on hand this past week when my husband was apparently bitten by an unknown insect. I washed the four white welts of bites off on his back as he decided to go ahead and take a shower. I heard him say "Something is wrong", as he was stepping out of the shower and looked like a monster. His face was swollen, his body LITERALLY covered in red bumps and hives from head to feet. I gave him a Benadryl, then he began passing out and I called 911. The Paramedics gave him an additional 25 mg of Benadryl along with Epinephrine through an IV and off to the ER where he was given even more drugs. He was going into anaphalactic shock. The paramedics saved his life when his blood pressure dropped so low to life threatening levels. It took several hours before he could return home with three prescriptions and instructions to see his primary care physician, an allergist, and a cardiologist.

I received a new bottle of
Diphenhydramine HCI 25 Mg - Kirkland Brand - Allergy Medicine and AntihistamineCompare to Active Ingredient of Benadryl® Allergy Generic - 600 Count  today 1/14/2013 with the expiration date of 10/2014. It will ALWAYS be in our drug drawer in a cool, dry, dark place, and updated as needed
