As folks have mentioned, you need to have your wiring diagram specific to your car and be comfortable with automotive wiring. Installed into a 2005 CRV. Only using it for the Nite-Lite auto headlamps. Some features I wish it had out of the box: 1. Switch could be used to disable the auto headlamps (this could be done by placing a switch on the relay control ground wire.) 2: Time to on was longer or adjustable. Its nearly instant once the photocell is covered. 5 seconds would better match OEM implementations and prevent false turn on due to underpasses.
I received this and installed, I suppose it could be installed in less then an hour, to a functional state and a mess, I spent about 2 hours, but I made it look very clean and hidden. Also note that it is much smaller then it seams in the picture.
It works perfectly, it turns the headlights on when it starts to get dark immediately (unlike the factory kit in the 2002 Tahoe I use to have which took 20 seconds to turn on, unless it was dark when you started the car). I installed this in a 2005 Explorer XLS, I was able to locate a factory auto light switch and used that to control the power to the 545T so it looks factory. I was also able to hook up the wiper switch to function on each setting, if that feature is important to you, you might have to buy diodes to make this work.
And to help those with the install, hook this kit up at the light switch, this will allow you to maintain the high beam function.
As for the pathway lighting, I think this does not do pathway lighting, it would either have to be done by the car itself, or with your security system.
