I have had this vacuum for a while now and have found it to be a very good vacuum for the price. I have 1 - 5 x 7 carpet and the rest of my house is hardwood and tile so I needed a realatively inexpensive cleaner. I prefer to sweep/swiffer the hardwood and tile so the fact that this vacuum does bare floors is not very important to me...the brushes DO NOT turn off so it isn't very good for the bare floors anyway. However I think it does WONDERFULLY on the carpet and the few times I have used it on the bare floor it has worked beautifully. I have 2 big dogs and 3 small children(plus my husband and myself) so it picks up ALOT of hair/dirt/crumbs. I have noticed that after a few months, the suction starts to reduce and it is MANDATORY to take it apart and clean out the (replaceable)filter, hose and foam filter.(THIS IS NECESSARY WITH EVERY VACUUM CLEANER!!! and obviously if you have more carpet maybe this should be done every 3-4 weeks?) You do not need to replace the filter as often as they want you to. (At $20 a pop that is a good thing) You just need to CLEAN it really well. Canned air works well but I used the electric blower that came with my air bed! That is very powerful and blew ever bit of hair and crud out in a few seconds flat. Then I sprinkled carpet deoderizing powder on it, let it sit for awhile then blew it out well again. Looks and smells brand new. I also blew the air through the hose for a few minutes. After all that it is working like new and has EXCELLENT suction once again. All the reviews that say the hose keeps clogging...what are you trying to pick up? I mean really... a vacuum is not meant to pick up large objects. Perhaps you should try picking up the big hunks first.Read more ›

The Ultra Vision Turbo is the worst vacuum I have ever owned. The suction power is not very good. This is especially noticeable when using the attachments. The vacuum is nothing more then a spinning brush that kicks dirt back on your feet as you vacuum. When you are done and turn the vacuum off and give it a shake dirt falls out all over your freshly cleaned floor because the suction never pulled the dirt up. Cleaning the filters helps a bit, but who wants to clean the filters every time you use the vacuum. My previous vacuum was a Dirt Devil Featherlight Vision and it was the best I ever had. The Featherlight lasted five years and is actually still working better for my daughter then the Ultra Vision Turbo has worked for me over the last 4 months. Definitely don't buy a Dirt Devil Ultra Vision Turbo. Put more bluntly by one of my poor overworked kids, " It's useless."

So, this vacuum was a gift for Christmas a while back from someone who really could have afforded to get us a nicer vacuum. This is, without a doubt, the crappiest vacuum I have ever seen -- never mind owned. I had one of those swiffer carpet flicks, and it did a better job. For starters, the vacuum is loud -- makes a sort of whining sound, and it did that from day one. Next, when you disconnect the hose to use attachments, the brushes keep spinning and it shoots dust up into your face -- necessitating dusting the room... again. The suction... well... it sucks -- but not in a good way. It tends to pick things up and levitate them in the limbo between the brushes and the canister until you turn off the vacuum and then everything falls out all over the floor. It doesn't even suck up the carpet freshner powder.

It has been suggested that it's because I'm not cleaning the filters... maybe that's the problem... maybe I should clean them after ever pass over two feet of carpeting. Barring that, not much else seems to help. Call me crazy, but I think that I shouldn't have to clean the filters more often than I have to empty the canister, especially since it says on the vacuum: "cleans longer without stopping". Ha! That's a joke. Seriously? Worst vacuum. Ever. Without a doubt. I'm considering having a bonfire to return its soul to Satan.

THIS IS THE MOST FRUSTRATING, HEAVIEST, DIFFICULT TO PUSH VACUUM I HAVE EVER USED. THE HAND HELD ATTACHMENTS ACTUALLY SPIT DIRT BACK OUT ONTO THE FLOOR AND CREATE MORE TO VACUUM. IF THERE WERE AN OPTION OF GIVING THIS VACUUM A "NEGATIVE" STAR RATING, THIS ONE WOULD HAVE A 5. (AND I HAVE NEVER GIVEN A NEGATIVE RATING ON A PRODUCT.)

IT SHUTS OFF AFTER 10 MINUTES OF VACUUMING, AND THEN HAS TO "SIT" UNPLUGGED FOR 30 MINUTES BEFORE IT WILL RUN AGAIN.

I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED AND HOPE I CAN GET MY MONEY BACK. I WISH I HAD CHECKED THE REVIEWS BEFORE I PURCHASED. YOU WILL BE SORRY IF YOU PURCHASE THIS VACUUM.

I bought this vacuum several months ago and basically I hate it. It has very little suction, even on tile floors the dirt just moves around instead of being sucked up. The on board tools are useless, and you have to stuff a rag in the hole that you take the hose out of, or dust is spewed back into the air! It's also very frustrating to remove and empty the collection tank. I don't think I will ever buy a dirt devil product again. This isn't the most expensive vacuum, but for the price it should work a lot better than it does.
