Dirt Devil Brum does just what I was looking for
on March 15, 2012
The Dirt Devil Brum works very well as long as the dust cup is emptied each time it is used, and also the dust tapped out of the filters--which is easy to do, once you get the dust cup out. It is not designed to pick up large or heavy debris, and things like hair or dust balls will get caught in the bristles more than get suctioned up. What this vacuum is good for is bare floors, and for picking up dust and fine debris--which is exactly what I've been looking for. I have bare floors throughout my house, and it's not been easy to find a vacuum that will take up the fine dust from the floors, but this ones does. It works great for this, but if you expect it to pick up larger or heavier debris, you may be disappointed. Be realistic about what it can do, and you will be happy with it.
I've read reviews regarding battery life. This may be an issue down the road; I don't know. I do know that, when the filters are clogged--which happens more quickly the more dust there is, it seems to be losing power.
One negative I've noticed is removing the dust cup. It's a struggle every time--which is why I've given it four instead of five stars. The way it's configured, and with the small hands I have, It's not easy to press the button while pulling on the dust cup, and I've resorted to using an instrument to help, which works better. It would have helped if Dirt Devil designers had placed gripper strips on the dust cup.
