“This book had a little bit of everything. Mystery, suspense, emotion and dirty, hot sex.”—Shameless Book Club
“Kenner wrote Dallas in such a way that you are enthralled with his character from the first page he graces. He’s sexy and extremely controlling but not quite what you think he is.”—Black Heart Reviews
“Seduction and tangled emotions led the way in this first book of the Stark International Novels (S.I.N.) series. With a happy-for-now ending that had a twist at the end, I can’t wait to see what happens next in Jane and Dallas’s intriguing story.”—Harlequin Junkie
“It was literally like [eating] the most decadently sinful piece of chocolate, knowing that you really need to lose those last ten pounds. I do believe that I just found my newest guilty pleasure and his name is Dallas Sykes.”—Hooker Heels Book Blog
“I am rooting for Dallas and Jane. They have a lot to overcome. Being together means lies, secrets, and complications that I’m sure will test their already fragile relationship.”—Book Boyfriend Blog
Dirtiest Secret is about fighting demons and giving in to desire. It’s about secrets, forbidden love and second chances. Friends, family and lovers. Dirtiest Secret is a touching and heartrending dark romance novel with a strong hero and heroine. If you’re in for intense and twisted, Dirtiest Secret is your fix.”—Chelles Life in Books
Dirtiest Secret is a great beginning to the S.I.N. trilogy. J. Kenner tapped into some very dark subject matter, added a taboo relationship, and added a mystery to the mix. I can’t wait to see how this story unfolds and where it ends. Jane and Dallas deserve the happily ever after.”—Smut Book Junkie Book Reviews
“The romance is an emotional struggle against the odds—a love that has never faltered between two people who have fallen into a pit of darkened memories and a tainted past. Dirtiest Secret is an emotional and heartbreaking tale that grabs hold and refuses to let go.”—The Reading Cafe

If I had a guilty pleasure, it would be taboo romances and Dirtiest Secret , is as taboo as it gets!

I ate it up!

It's honestly really hard to review this without spoiling anything, and you don't want to be spoiled. At all.

Diriest Secret is told in dual POV of Dallas and Jane, alternating between past and present as well. It's slow going at first, but once things pick up around 20% it never lets up. It's dark, twisty and at times, hard to read. I did, however, find the switches a bit jarring and hard to keep up with. But the writing overall was engaging and smooth and Ms. Kenner did a great job weaving all the elements of the story together.

I'm floored by the ending, and I can't wait to dive into book two! If you like dark, suspenseful reads with a flare of taboo, I highly recommend this one.

I received this book for free from The Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Wow! J Kenner has done it again with a spin off of the Stark series called Dirtiest Secret (Stark International) This is the first book in a trilogy, and thank goodness! I've mbeen hooked on the Stark series since Damien and Nikki in Release Me. I've voraciously read every book that has come out and begged for more on the altar of Julie Kenner. And this spin-off has it all! Romance, suspense, hot, steamy sex, intrigue. You name it.

Dallas and Jane have a dirty secret of course, they are truly, madly, and deeply hooked on one another, and have been since they were teenagers. They also share a horrible trauma with eachother, they were both kidnapped when Dallas was just 15 years old by 6 masked men. Now Dallas is a CEO and has done his level best to stay away from Jane because it hurts to much to be near her, he wants her too much, and he knows he can't have her.

Jane feels the same way. And she doesn't know the biggest secrect that Dallas has been keeping. But you'll have to read on to find that out. And trust me, you'll want to read this book. Like everything else J Kenner writes, this book is just pure magic

There's no denying your love life is complicated when the man you're in love with is...your brother.

Yes. Things are complicated for Dallas and Jane. Not only that pesky little hitch but they've a complicated past as well that's left them both pretty dysfunctional.

Dirtiest Secret wasn't all that dirty but it was curious and a spot twisty. The writing was easy and while not all that layered or rich it kept me reading and fairly entertained. There were good bits and some oh-dear-that-was-unfortunate bits, as well, as Jane sets out to close the distance that's grown between her and Dallas once and for all.

So. The good bits!

>>> The taboo factor. Dallas and Jane have loved each other for nearly two decades but they've kept apart and rarely see each other now that they're grown. The issue? Well, they're siblings. At least legally. It's all kinds of messy but her mom married his uncle ages ago then Dallas's bio dad died and his uncle adopted him. So...legally siblings but no blood relation. The stigma is still there as they fight their attraction and desperately try to keep their feelings hidden from family and society. And I kinda liked it!

>>> The history. When they were teens they were kidnapped and held for weeks before finally being released. It left them both damaged and 17 years later they're still dealing with the fall out of both the trauma and the sexual bond they created while they were held captive.

>>> I liked both Dallas and Jane. At least from what you see of them. You really don't get to know them all that well other than what they've gone through in the past and that they have a thing for each other and are tormented by it.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book for an honest review, so here goes...

I'm about a third of the way through this book, and frankly it's been a struggle to keep going. I find I have very little care for what happens and doubt I'll finish it to find out.

The style of writing is annoying in that I feel as if I've been plunked into the middle of a plot I'm supposed to follow, and yet I can't because bits and pieces come to light as I go. That is frustrating.

It is also frustrating to see two main characters' push and pull toward each other. I'm supposed to be scandalized, I guess, that they are adoptive siblings who are desperately attracted to each other? I don't buy that one for a minute. So what??! And they share a bond over having been kidnapped together and apparently somehow tortured during their captivity? So far I haven't seen enough of that to tell whether their trauma even makes sense.

So, the people in the book have confusing personalities, the plot unfolds poorly, and the main male character has created a very strange persona for himself that is not his true nature. We don't know why he's done that either.

So all in all, I just don't give a darn. I like a book that sucks me into the plot and makes me care about the main characters. This one misses by a mile. So sorry.
