I previously read Dirty Deeds back in 2012 but Lorelei James has rereleased it so I picked it back up again. It had a few changes and additions but time and time again Ms. James reminds me why she is one of my favorite authors.
This book is interesting to me because typically the male character goes into relationships knowing he just wants a fling or something fun yet Nathan is ready for something real, yet Tate is the one that has decided she wants fun and flirty after previously suffering with a less than stellar relationship.
They have to also create two separate relationships. That of lovers and business associates as they have the mutual goal of remodeling her aunts house while overcoming major issues with the city before she can sell it.
This is a phenomenal quicker read in my opinion with romances and erotic elements and a HEA.
Nathan and Tate are two people who are stubborn to a fault. One wanting a fling the other wanting anything but a fling; the tension is so tight you can feel it radiating. Once Tate and Nathan give into their wildest desires, there is no stopping them. The love scenes are panty melting, awe inspiring, dreamy worthy scenes that make a person want to engage in some of their own wildest dreams. The emotions are very real; Ms. James makes you want to smack some heads together all while celebrating. The plot is a very smoothly flowing plot with great characters, all are well developed and do not distract from Nathan and Tate. This was one of the first novels I have ever read from Ms. James and it grabbed a hold of me and pulled me into her world. It could be considered one of her “tamer” books but definitely still brings the heat and top quality characters!
I was so excited to hear that Lorelei James was re-releasing Dirty Deeds, one of her earliest published novels. It was a joy to revisit Tate and Nathan's story after all these years. It stands up well because the storyline and characters are timeless. Ms. James has updated a few details that dated it, but a well-written story and well-developed characters always age well. My opinion of the story and the characters remains unchanged--I enjoyed the refresher on these two beloved characters, and I especially appreciated how Ms. James' writing has evolved and grown over the last several years. Although, as Dirty Deeds demonstrates, she started at an exceptionally high level. Her more recent novels show her growth as a writer, her willingness to explore new subjects, as well as her seemingly effortless ability to write exceptionally well in multiple genres. It was fun to go back to this group of characters--I hope I can find the time to read the other related (but standalone) novels sometime soon.
