Trish loves, loves, loves her kink. She absolutely doesn't want or need any romantic entanglements, thus Open Door and it's anonymity is perfect for her. She has her rules and as along as she enforces those rules, she can continue to do her job and face the powerful men she meets without having them know anything about her personally.
Nathan Sinclair also wants no entanglements, but there is something about Trish that pushes all his buttons and makes him want to find a way to "Fix" things so that they can both get what they want. This is a novella that although short, is chock full of emotion and completely off the charts steamy.
From the very first sentence, she had me hooked. Trish really knows how to put on a show, and Nathan loves to watch. And the two of them together --watch out! I really enjoyed his character in the Dirty Filthy books, but it was great to get to know more about him. He is my new book boyfriend! And Trish... who knew all that Hudson's secretary had going on in her time away from work.
If you have not read her books before, this would be a great intro. It is not too long, but it sure gives you a taste of what Laurelin Paige continually delivers in her books – great characters and hot, steamy, filthy action.
Trish is not the ordinary woman. Even growing up she never liked the idea if relationships, marriage, and children. She decided at an early age it was not for her. She liked her freedom. The idea of being “tied down” to one person was not appealing to her. She liked to play. She liked to attend parties with the Open Door. The Open Door is an exclusive sex party group. These parties were the highlight of her Saturday nights. Then she meets Nathan Sinclair at one of these parties.
Nathan Sinclair is a forever bachelor. He spent time traveling and doesn’t want to be tied down. But at the age of 45 he realizes he doesn’t want to spend the rest of his life alone. He also likes kinky sex so he attends an Open Door party. This one Saturday night changes his life.
Even though Trish like Nathan “Nate” she is unwilling to confirm to the norms of society. She does break some of her own rules because she can’t help herself. Her attraction to Nate is too strong. She has always taken pride in the fact that she does not mix business with pleasure. That’s until Nate is a client of her boss Hudson Pierce. She is so destructed she’s frustrated with herself. Nate will do anything to have her in his life even after she makes it perfectly clear that she is not the ordinary woman.
I really enjoyed this book. Trish’s unconventional way of living wavers some but not enough to change who she is. She’s a fierce independent woman who know what she wants and doesn’t want in life. Nate is also somewhat untraditional in his way of life. He understands where Trish is coming from and acknowledges he doesn’t want to change her.
I wasn't a fan of Trish. She was closed off and standoffish. She was definitely set in her ways. Her apartment. Her things. Her lifestyle. It was all about her. And Nate. I loved Nate. He was so sweet. I absolutely loved him. But this book was extremely erotic. Like really erotic. I loved every minute. It was written really well.
I was enjoying this book until the 2nd to the last chapter. She said "I miss you" and I sat and cried. It was the sweetest thing ever. It was a turning point in our Ice Queen's heart. She missed him! I'm usually not a fan of novellas. We have the meet, then they fall in love, then the breakup and then back together. It's too much to put into a short story. But this one worked. It was about two people who find a common ground. They both realize they need each other. There was no insta-love. Just acceptance.
Nathan Sinclair is a man she is drawn to one Saturday night at the club, but she slips away before he can get to know her better. Imagine Trish's reaction when he walks in the following Monday to meet with her boss. Nathan is a very self-confident, smoking hot man who doesn't take no for an answer. Now that he knows who she is, he relentlessly pursues Trish, trying to break down her barriers and get her to agree to date him. Can Nathan Sinclair convince Trish to break her rules, or is she too unbending to ever be more than his sexy fantasy.
Laurelin Paige has written one smoking hot book. The chemistry between Trish and Nathan is scorching and his pursuit of her will keep you glued to this book from cover to cover. Even though characters from the Dirty Filthy series are intertwined, this book can be read as a standalone. If you haven't read Dirty Filthy Rich Boys, Dirty Filthy Rich Men, and Dirty Filthy Rich Love, you will after you read this book.
