Since Suzanne was definitely working near the presses that night, she has reason to worry. She also has a quirky way of thinking, very much outside the box, that drives Dragovic crazy as he attempts to help her.
As Dragovic gets deeper into the case he discovers that quite a number of people had reason to do away with Blasingame, a big shot at the Chicago Truth Examiner, where they all work. and at least four of them, including Suzanne, also had the acrobatic skills to get away with it. Dragovic has to figure out which one did it and why.
Dragovic, a tad quirky himself, narrates the tale, regularly doing battle with the good and bad sides of his personality, Gallant and Goofus. At other times he's battling his childhood pal, police detective Dragon Brdar, who is in charge of the police investigation.
In all this is a professionally written book with highly credible and well-rounded characters. While not exactly suspenseful, curiosity kept me up half the night because the yarn was just too darn interesting to put down!
I highly recommend it.
I was sorry there was not a follow-up story for this period in time, for this was an interesting era in Chicago. I will definitely get her follow-up book.
