ADDITION: Finally finished this book. LOOOOOONG and rather boring. As I previously stated it starts with events that have not taken place at the end of the last book, in addition to looking if I had missed a book, I went back to the last book to make sure I had not missed some chapters at the end, but no it is just weirdly written. Then the chapters started skipping between past and present and I realized what the author was attempting. To me it was confusing, drawn out with little action, and I had to force myself to keep reading. A love triangle in which none of the three people come across as likable and you really don't care who ends up with who as long as it ends.
This book--Oh geez. What a mess. The timeline was all messed up, constantly jumping from past to present, and very hard to follow. The two main characters were nothing like they were portrayed in the previous two books. Levi was previously portrayed as lighthearted and flirtatious, not dark and lovelorn. Ellie was previously portrayed as a fun best friend for Ava, not involved in criminal activity and flirting with danger. So when I started reading this book it was such a shock to see that they were nothing like what we had been told previously. There's no way that characters involved in what these characters were would be as carefree as they were portrayed in the previous two books.
I give the author credit for trying something different, but for me this wasn't a successful effort. I would suggest that it still be read though for the sake of the series. It doesn't take that long and there are some details that advance the series long story arc.
Levi Jackson and Colton McKinley have been best friends for a long time. Both thrill seekers, both getting into trouble. But Colton went further and got into pain pills, and became addicted. Then along came Ellie. Colton met her first, but they were both in love with her. Levi, though loving his friend, backed off. But it went on for years. She was the first girl Colton ever took seriously. He was trying to cleanup his drug problem for her and everything.
Three years after Ellie met the boys, she is found in her apartment unconscious. Beaten. Bruised. Hardly breathing. She was in a coma for a while. And then when she wakes up she can’t remember anything from the last 3 years. Levi, Colton, Jackson Harbor where she lived. On top of all that Colton and his father both have gone missing.
The first person that is familiar to Ellie is Levi. She has little clips of memories of him. Plus she just has this feeling about him. So when she starts to remember and decides to go home to Jackson Harbor and solve the case of what happened, where’s Colton and his father, are they dead? She decides to turn to Levi for help. The mystery and suspense in this book are really well done!! With all the twists and turns, you aren’t sure what to think! I thought Lexi did a beautiful job with this! And as usual, the love story part of it was so beautiful! Levi is one hell of a guy!!! He is such a protective, sweet, kind, thoughtful, gentleman....until he gets the green light and then he’s a real alpha in the bedroom, in the shower, and almost in the kitchen (someone interrupted). Levi loves his family. He’s loyal. How can you not love Levi?!
I loved this book! Another 5 Star in this Series!! I can’t wait for book 4!
I was so excited to finally get Levi’s story (and an amnesia storyline.. hello Nate.. please let it be as good), and I felt like I didn’t get to know Levi at all. Ellie was a mess.. and her amnesia back and forth left much to be desired. The time jumps felt just that.. jumpy. I wanted to like it, and Ellie, but she is no where near good enough for the Levi that was created. Boo hoo, she grew up poor. That’s a sad excuse to make some ridiculous life choices, and then to have it all wrap up with a pretty art gallery now? Yuck. So much was left to be told with this story.. I am glad I read the other two first.. and know how much I can like a book by Lexi Ryan. She’s an incredible author, with stories that touch your heart, but this one could have been skipped.

Ellie is recovering from almost being beaten to death, and has lost her memory of the last three years since she moved to Jackson Harbour. So she doesn't remember any of the characters. Colton, her fiancee is missing - did he do this to her? Levi just wants to protect the girl he loves.
This story skips backwards and forwards over time as Ellie starts remembering her life in Jackson Harbour, as she pieces together events that occurred. I love the angst, and I enjoy a good cry in a book too.
It’s been a brilliant series so far but Dirty, Reckless Love is so cleverly written... the constant before and after and how it all comes together is amazing, it must be quite difficult getting the timelines right but Lexi Ryan does it with ease add to that all the twists and surprises and you’ve got one hell of a good story.
Will Coulton ever find happiness? Will he get his story?
I love everything from this author and look forward to what ever comes next.!
