Once again two of my favourite authors have joined forces to bring yet another steamy book to the hands of their readers. Filled with suspense, lies, lust, humour, betrayal and, of course secrets, this book very rarely left my hands once I started it. Chelle and Brenda have given us two very strong characters in Kennedy Barnes and Phoenix Ash, both of whom I fell in love with; Kennedy for her strength and feisty ways, despite her background, and Nix for his sexy, tempting, passionate and oh so dirty ways. This book held me captivated from the moment that I picked it up.
Chelle and Brenda maintained their lofty standard for writing, that they set in their first book DIRTY WORK, and it was such a pleasure to see. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline of this one, (no spoilers here, so you’ll have to read it). DIRTY SECRET has everything that you want from a book, steamy hot scenes between the two main characters, secondary characters that you can both love and hate but most of all, you will find that that their writing style is extremely compatible and you won’t even know who wrote which part. The flow of the story just rises and falls with each given situation – simply perfect.
Kennedy is a secret agent, on assignment, to gather information from a local club, The Loft, where many seedy and dark criminals gather to make deals. While there she sees Nix and the attraction is instantaneous. Nix is a master hacker, a criminal who makes his money illegally, but he hides a side of his life that is unexpected. When these two get together….well let’s just say that you’ll need to have a fan and some very cold water!!!!! With lines like this how can you not want to read it.
"She’s the prey."
"I’m the predator."
"And I will devour her.”
And that is just a taste of what you can expect to find.
If you loved Chelle and Brenda’s first collaboration DIRTY WORK, then you will definitely love DIRTY SECRET. It is not a sequel, it is a stand-alone – but you will get a sneak peak of Reagan and Jude.
FIVE STARS for this DIRTY SECRET
Raised as the secret love child of a prominent politician, never being able to tell a single soul outside of her immediate family about the father she adored, secrets have become a way of life. With that kind of pedigree, it's perhaps fitting that she found her way into the intelligence community where both the keeping and finding out of secrets is her bread and butter.
Undercover, in a world of terrorists, arms dealers and not very nice people, she's suddenly assigned a secondary target.
Known only by reputation, Phoenix, a world class hacker has stumbled into her path, and inadvertently into her life discovering almost from day one that she's not who she pretends to be.
Both know the other holds secrets. Both know the other could potentially destroy the other and everything they've tried to build. Both can't stay away.
With suspense and intrigue on every page, Brenda Rothert and Chelle Bliss have crafted a cleverly seductive romance where twists and turns are par for the course. Being only loosely related to their first collaboration, Dirty Work, this new book stands firmly on it's own with strong characterization and a distinctive feel that is all it's own.
I raced through this one, turning page after page, constantly on edge wondering how the various secondary characters would impact and derail the best crafted plans of the hero and heroine as they circled each other. Each wary, unsure, yet captivated.
Loved every single word.
