Evil Is Among Us

One night in a London housing project playground, 8-year-old Tom Ryan vanished without a trace. He was never found. But for his guilt-ridden older brother Matthew (a startling performance by Harry Treadaway of CONTROL), the terror has just begun: He has started seeing and hearing what may be the ghost of the missing boy, who is now trying to lead him to the shocking truth behind his disappearance. You can hide a secret, but can you ever bury the horrors of the past? Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy in the HARRY POTTER films) co-stars in this disturbing debut chiller from co-writer/director Johnny Kervorkian that Electric Sheep Magazine calls a tense and absorbing experience...Kervorkian shows plenty of talent for building a creeping sense of terror and delivering genuinely heart-in-your-mouth shocks.

I was so disappointed with this movie! First, let me say that Harry Treadaway's acting was top notch as usual. In my opinion, the script was flat and uninspired. The ending came out of nowhere! Maybe I missed the hints and foreshadowing but after a few times of watching it I'm still sadly disappointed.

First let me say that I am a huge fan of both Treadaway brothers. This Treadaway is Harry. I wanted to really like this movie but couldn't. there is a long lead in until anything happens. By that time I didn't care. harry just gets out of a "hospital" he took his little brothers disappearance hard, now he goes home with his angry father blah, blah, blah. Just too little happened and I lost interest. Pacing is a big thing which I think this director forgot. I still think harry is a terrific actor....this just wasn't his moment.

The Disappeared quite ingeniously tries to blend the Sixth Sense with a murder mystery, but first time Writer/Director, Johnny Kavorkian, takes a big chance by adding a surprise ending, that just destroys anything the film had going for it. When Matt Ryan's (Harry Treadway) little brother disappears, he loses his mind. Upon returning to his home, he starts hearing and seeing his missing brother. Matt feels his brother his trying to tell him something and decides to follow the clues. The story here was actually pretty good, but the film moves at an absolute snails pace, felling well longer than 96 minutes. This is one of those films where they put everything on the surprise ending and save all the good stuff for the lead into it. The problem is that the surprise ending was lame and didn't make a whole lot of sense. There is a lot of symbolism in this film that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but the ending really just brings it all to a head. British actor, Harry Treadway is the lead and he was really amazing. Treadway manages to mix the depression associated with his brother's disappearance, the feeling that he's losing his mind, and the drive of a man on a mission, resulting in a great performance in an otherwise dull film. The Disappeared had a lot of potential and a unique story, but it moves so slowly that most people will lose interest well before it falls apart at the end.

An older brother is torn apart by the disappearance of the younger brother he was supposed to be watching instead of partying with friends. Adding to his guilt is their father who is trying to hide that he blames the teen. Twists, turns, shocks, and skillful use of "what is real, what is in the teen's mind, and how does this kid tell which is which?" makes the viewer keep guessing. Haunting, terrifying, and tragic. Beautiful performances by entire cast. I give this 5 stars though the working class British accents may be difficult to decipher at times.

Omg, Tom Felton is such a cutie. This movie has interesting characters and a good story, too! And they all say "oi."
