I received this book in exchange for an honest review~~~
Disarming by Alexia Purdy

HOLY MOLY OMG!! OMG the author is killing me!!! Finished Disarming and my mouth is on the floor with all the twists!!! All I can think is .... WHAT NO!!! UGH!! too emotional need to lay down!! lol. What a book and what a story and what a story line!!! This author has me spellbound at how wonderfully this book is written and had me so captivated I could not put this book down. I read it in a day and the ending is AMAZING!!!! Dying for the next book and I so look forward into reading more of this amazing author. I can't wait to see what else this authors got up her sleeves!! The story is full of twists and turns that you won't see coming. The climax and ending are spectacular! We see some characters from the last book, but also meet some new characters. The creepiest is Katrina!! This series I can see being made into a movie series! The characters and their interactions are dynamic!

This book picks right back up after the rescue of Helen and Jeremy. April is trying to go back to the way it was before they were taken. Helen's strange behavior and her change in appetite keeps that from happening. Rye is also pressuring her about her feelings that she is not comfortable with. Then events take a turn for the worst when they find a group of people murdering the Feral Vamps while lining up like cattle. Why? Who are these new people and why have they not been seen yet? Can Helen be saved? Will April be killed? I gave this book a 5 star jumping up and down doing flips review since it was so so so good.

This series must be read in order. The first book is Reign of Blood (Reign of Blood #1). This is the second book.

Murphy's Law truly describes the world now... Whatever can go wrong WILL go wrong! April is stuck with her mother Helen who has retreated into agoraphobia and distanced herself from her children and the world to the point of complete introspection and self loathing disinterest. Helen will not even allow April to see to her grooming needs. April does not know what tortures her mother endured at the hands of Christian's Hive but she wishes her mother would snap out of it already! She(April) is just waaay too young to be the mother/teacher/protector/decision-maker for her family of hybrid humans! After all she is just 18!!! The new world order is no order at all with feral Zompires around every corner and more mysteries surfacing every day... Why can't she bring herself to commit to Rye? What is she going to do about her mother Helen? Does she really have a say on the Hive's ruling council or is it just for show to keep her around(she is after all the salvation of the hybrid vampires as she carries the cure to the wasting/rotting disease in her blood)? Will they ever find out what caused this terrible plague of death/undeath? Who or what is mass exterminating the Ferals? Or are they just committing mass suicide?

This book has the romance as a major issue for April to deal with... so I definitely would not consider this in any way a romance novel lol. The thrills and chills are a good spice for all the action and adventure.

We meet April again and Rye along with the other Hybrids. So many things have changed yet stayed the same. The same old thing everyday is driving April nuts. Then things start happening and her world has changed, Is it really her against Rye and company or are they really on her side. Are their others like her or is she truly alone. April learns that shutting herself off from her feelings isn't what she wants. Rye learns to be patient and trust her. But is it too late for them. A great story that once again has you rooting for April and Rye together and separately as they both battle their personal demons and come out strong. A great story that once again has you made that you have reached the last page.

**I listened to the audible version of this book**

Words really can't express how much I love this series. It's action packed and a bit gory and, I LOVE the fact that vampires aren't overly romanticized. I love that they are good as well as evil. The characters are strong and real. I also love LOVE the emotion the narrator puts into the words. The series is like a breath of fresh air, kinda taking vampires back to their roots, in a way. But, the author puts enough of her own theory of them into the story to make them completely unique. Looking forward to getting into the next book.
